River tourism, green space and concerts

Our river location is not utilised like many other cities like London, Oxford, Cambridge and even Stratford-upon-Avon which is tiny in comparison. We need boat trips and pop up entertainment/street food etc to bring in tourism, plus more historical marketing. Not enough is done in any of these areas. We also need a another bridge over the river. Worcester is a wonderful city but we must stop cutting down trees (which actually help prevent flooding) and really showcase our beautiful countryside city! The university arena or a purpose built arena should be used to bring in big name concerts like the indoor arena. Parking across the whole city is ridiculous and a multi story should be built at the hospital in the first instance!

  1. There is already a boat tour company. I agree a lot more could be done to make it more appealing.
The suggestions of wild flowers planting more tree’s sounds great.
Also more advertising of events linked in to the river like the firework display in August at the end of the summer festival, St.Richards hospice duck race and the dragon boat racing possibly even more events they all create a great family fun atmosphere. Opportunity to make these things even better & encourage more people to come & join in.

  2. The new pedestrian bridge at Gheluvelt Park is very welcome but Sabrina bridge is on very poor condition.
The river banks are very popular but more could be done to support wildlife and more planting added.
Move the cattle market car park and create a green space linking the library to the river.
