Safety and attraction.

Walsall town no longer feels like a safe space to shop or spend a day out. With the notable absence of police or security present in the centre, it attracts unsavoury behaviour. Furthermore, the town on a whole feels unclean and with the absence of big name shops or small unique business it is easily overlooked in favour of Merry Hill and Birmingham. More needs to be done to attract unique independent business that add value, in addition to the big names and possible attraction centres (e.g. bowling, family friendly arcade, activity centre). The lack of parking and high cost of parking is only adding to the death of the high street. Market stalls should be confined to one street instead of the whole centre and more tightly regulated, they should add value to a shoppers experience. More needs to be done to protect existing businesses.
