SAVE OUR BATHING POOL SITE 😭

Please do not sell off or lease the Bathing Pool Site. I do not believe we have the right to steal this prestigious community space from future generations.

  1. I agree leave the site alone for resident use but not that the money should ne invested there. We dont have the infrastructure to support the traffic, and the public transport is expensive and unreliable. The idea of a lido is nice but it wont generate enough income to be self sufficient. I would prefer the money to be spent on something that would be a long term investment such as better transport links that will have commercial and residential benefits.

  2. How about a new all weather swimming lido (with retractable roof for colder months) with an addtional large outdoor pool?

  3. Please do not develop this area for housing. Tourism is a huge income generator and this area should be developed to make the West of St Leonards a tourist attraction a beautiful lido would generate footfall and income for the council. All tourists are drawn to the seafront, give them a reason to come to West St Leonards.

Housing developments should not be on prime land, utilise the housing that we have better, compulsory purchase run down properties, develop the Summerfields Sports Centre for housing and develop the Olde Bathing Pool Land with the monies due to be invested in this. Develop the Old Grove School site with housing, but please don’t blight our promenade with evening more flats. This will be dense development when what is needed from a housing perspective is affordable housings with gardens for young families, professionals with their own green space, this will not be achieved on the Olde Bathing Pool site.
Health and Well-being of the Hastings & St Leonards should be considered and this site should only be developed to promote our residents well being, develop the Olde Bathing Pool in-line with the residents wishes, improve the environment we living in, please do just sell it off to the highest bidder…let’s truly plan for a better, brighter future for Hastings & St Leonards.

What about the residents that are homeless? I’m sure they’d be thrilled that this old, out of date bathing garden that’s falling apart has been turned into an area of cheap affordable housing for those who have no where else to go.

“…sell it off to the highest bidder…”
Don’t do this, the person who buys will repair it and what? Literally nothing would have changed. People will still be homeless, people will still be struggling to get a job and people still have trouble getting themselves a house to live in because the obscenely wealthy are essentially stealing them right in front of their eyes.

  4. This is a leisure site for local people who do not want to lose it to airb and b and second home owners and do not want to lose the green open space and beach 🏖 huts… As a long time Hastings resident and council tax payer we deserve better…. Happy for some leisure attractions… Cafes arts etc but not 152 homes

  5. The local community as well as visitors to Hastings St Leonard’s and Bexhill all enjoy this beautiful place, Please leave alone to allow us to enjoy this historic site. Building on scared ground so close to the sea will bring further flooding and traffic pollution to our environment.
