Shop Fronts – Grants for Improvements

There are a significant number of poor quality shop fronts in the town. Whilst there is value in diversity, the standard and quality of shopfronts can be poor. Advice and grants on shopfronts could improve the attractiveness of the town centre for both residents and visitors.

  1. A major problem with the town’s shopfronts are the metal security shutters used when the shops are closed. They hide the shop fronts and window displays, and reduce light to the pavements, creating a deadening, unwelcoming and neglected effect. They give the town a hostile and unsafe feeling, especially for pedestrians in the town in the evening.
