Space for Nature

There are not enough wild green spaces in the city centre to provide a real contribution to biodiversity. Lawn and turf provide very little space for nature. We should be rewilding parts of our beautiful city parks and riverside, having multiple advantages to both biodiversity and ecosystems in the city itself. These will help with carbon sequestration and water management, along with huge benefits for residents’ mental health, and a reduction in noise and air pollution for both residents and visitors. Again, bringing more people to the city to spend their money!

  1. This is so easily achieved and for very little cost. In fact, increased biodiversity can be achieved simply by less frequent mowing which will save money. Greening the city must be at the heart of city plans for the health and well-being of all.
