Subsidised Transport for Young People

Our young people no longer receive concessions for travel on public transport.

As an example, this means it can cost approximately £7 per day to travel from Spilsby to attend Boston College ( a top 5 college in the uk).

That is a lot of money for young people to find and they may not have parental support.

It also means they are less likely to come into town on Saturday as they can’t afford it. That means the town centre economy is missing a vital component. If young people don’t form habits of coming into town, visiting shops and leisure (cinema), they will not think to do so as adults, with their families.

Therefore, we need subsidised bus fares for our young people to support them attending Boston College, to gain the skills our local employers need, and allow them to visit the town centre at weekends.
