Parking in Glastonbury is something that needs to be adressed. With the increase in road vehicles in general and the fact that more and more houses and flAts are being built on every tiny bit of land available in the town, especially the town centre, residents are finding it more and more difficult to park within walking distance of their homes. Paired with the influx of airbnb guests bringing their cars and the many tourists that visit the town everyday the parking facilities are not sufficient. This leaves people with no option other than to park in unsuitable places causing a danger to other road users and pedestrians. Planning consent should only be given to applications that provide ample parking for their project, not 3 parking spaces for 6 flats as is currently being constructed in st johns car park. And provisions should be made to increase affordable parking for visitors and residents throughout the town at all times not just during events.
