As part of the all of the new housing in Warrington, the developers are advertising new homes as “freehold” and they are not. There is still uncontrolled management fees attached. In the past, when purchasing older and “proper” freeholds, communal land/ adoption of roads was taken over by the council, this is not the case leaving thousands exposed and at risk of not being able to remortgage. These new developers in the area are promoting their own solicitors and pushing purchasers down the path due to tight deadlines to complete and are miss- selling. This could be like another PPI scandal in years to come leaving housing in Warrington like a trap as some lenders are now reluctant to offer remortgage solutions.
