Tackling congestion

Stevenage is ranked the 6th worst place relative to size in the uk for air quality and it is easy to see why. The biggest challenge the town faces is that it is well past it’s optimum size for the current infrastructure. Just about any road into Stevenage and particularly to/from the industrial area at peak times is just a long slow moving queue. With the recently approved developments within the town this is going to become significantly worse and little regard to targets for air quality seems to be being taken into account. People need to be encouraged to leave their cars at home. This could involve encouraging companies and/or the council, to establish schemes for bicycle purchase for their employees similar to a scheme run by the NHS. This could be subsidised with Government funding. As a regular cyclist myself many of the cycle paths are in a poor state of repair and in urgent need of attention.
