Todmorden College and Community hub

The college can perform a wide variety of functions in the town, it will need capital funding for building improvements like, fire alarms, ventilation, security, a second fire escape route from the second floor gymnasium, re equiping the catering training room, equiping a hack space and pottery room, insulating the whole building, adding another floor for arts use, building a roof garden above the workshops for the childrens centre, re wiring the stage lighting, installing wifi, returning the ground floor hall to its former large size for events functions conferences etc, replacing all windows with double glazing. The college will need revenue funding support too for its first three years and funding for courses in basic skills, employability skills, creative arts etc etc.

  1. Getting the Community College (ex CMBC building), is an excellent idea- this could provide an injection of inspiration into the arm of Todmorden giving the town some focus on the `new future’ we could be all experiencing soon, and can be set up for the businesses/enterprises will require in the `new normal’ of the business world with small fully IT equipped business spaces for hire and workshop units.

  2. Todmorden is desperately in need of this Education and Learning facility. The TLC & CH group are offering to transform this space which has vast potential. The council have underused this building for many years. It is however sound and ready to provide a space for education and community activity. There will be a large hall for events and conferences. This will be a very valuable resource for the local community as well as National and International events.
TLC & CH are well organised and have a well appointed Board with members of vast experience along with a host of volunteers ready to pitch in and support the project. Financially they need support to kick start the plans and learning resources for a self-supporting enterprise. There is vast support in the community for this project with so much potential.
