Make blackpool great again

Picture this; Miami feel promenade, all neon lit, music everywhere. Quirky town design. Beach clubs and beach parties throughout summer, loads of tourism due to people wanting to visit the place.. Make it what it was in the 80s and 90s, when it worked! hotels will get help from council to improve hotel image. Blackpool […]

The people not the town

Blackpool has had alot of work done recently in the town centre and along its promenade but these improvements are only made for tourists and the actually people who live in blackpool do not see an improvement to life, majority of people can only get seasonal work in a bars and hotels because its the […]

Assault charges

Recently young teenagers have been assaulting people and if an adult defends themselves against the minor they are arrested for assault on a minor. Which isn’t right, if someone comes up to me with a knife they are getting punched, regardless if they are 25 or 14. It’s self defence, what do you want me […]

With an […]

Unused hotels

Utilising the hotels that are boarded up and unused could be made into living spaces for over 55’s or 60’s who are perhaps living on their own and don’t want to be cut off from society. The hotels could serve as they would a hotel with morning/after noon activities, coffee mornings, bingo, sing along and […]

Roads

There definitely needs to be something done to Preston new road. New tarmaced road completely as it’s full of potholes. white lines and visible markings are 100% needed. New path both sides and most definitely LESS TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND MORE ROUNDABOUTS keep the traffic moving and stop congestion coming into Blackpool. There is 2 main […]

Roads

All the roads to go back to exactly how they was 10 years ago! All white lines to be refreshed, buses to have lay-bys in stead of stopping in the road. Clearly labelled road markings, less traffic lights and more roundabouts!

Transport

As someone who doesn’t live in Blackpool town centre transport is one my biggest concerns. Council housing has been built in outter areas suggesting it is understood that not everyone has money. However in some areas due to other lack of investment there are very few shops making trips into Blackpool essential but because of […]

Regenerate Blackpool

I would like to suggest the following: 1) Extend tram from Blackpool squires gate to Lytham. A lot of people work Lytham way and traffic is terrible, to reduce carbon footprint, trams would be better option. 2) Homeless shelters, too many people in Blackpool sleeping rough. 3) Empty shops: No rent for businesses that take […]

Family and children centres

I would suggest that Blackpool put more funding in to programs for family with young children as the children’s centres are decreasing and their is no support in place for breastfeeding mums either. If we want the children who are born here to thrive then we need to do more to help increase the help, […]

Highfield Road area

Highfield Road had really started to flourish with some lovely eateries and restaurants. Montagues closing seemed to have a knock on and the road seems to be on the decline again. Spending the money to improve it by integrating some of the improvements to Harrowside would be good as well as incentivising new businesses into […]

Culture Quarter

The block directly around the beautiful Grundy Art Gallery and Central Library seems almost exclusively boarded up buildings now. It is in the top 10 most deprived LSOAs in England. There is development in the town but it is all happening south of the area. It would be great if the area could be developed […]

Recovery central

Would like to create an area/street for people/families in recovery to live, drug and alcohol free. Make Blackpool the recovery capital of the UK. Alcohol free bars and bring new custom to the town instead of being reliant on pubs/clubs.

Everything

Invest money in the childrens’ services, fix up pretty much all roads; they are either full of pot holes or flood at the slightest bit of rain. Invest in a mental health clinic or rehab clinic. More police available too.

Maintenance of residential streets

Hiring a team of people to generally maintain residential streets that aren’t tourist facing. Weeding, litter picking, identifying preventative maintenance on pavements and roads, fencing, walls, paintwork, even planting flowers/trees etc. It’s not going to change the world, but it will make central Blackpool a nicer place to live.

More activity

I think Blackpool would be amazing with more clothing shops, a bigger hounds hill maybe? Instead of all the little shops that last a few months, why not invest in a bigger shopping centre? Everyone I speak to, say how lame it is in Blackpool to go clothes shopping. People have to travel to Manchester […]

Cafes at night time

Apart from Mc Donalds there is no place at night time to have a hot drink and to read a newspaper as the pubs are too dark and loud. Socializing not possible without alcohol. There is no proper Donut shop like Dunkin Donut and no outdoor swimming pool in town centre. An outdoor weekly fresh […]

Public transport

More affordable public transport so people are able to obtain jobs outside their immediate area. A monthly bus pass costs £57 which takes quite a big chunk from a person’s pay especially if they’re only able to get part time work.

Outdoor spaces

Please could you build some outdoor gym and calisthenics parks? This will be part of making Blackpool population healthier. There is plenty of space to do so in Stanley park and maybe one somewhere on to promenade (so exercise with city view). Maybe someone would inspire all these wandering around teens to actually exercise.

HOMELESS

I’d like the council to act responsibly towards the Homeless situation here in Blackpool by modelling Newport’s idea of converting old buses into beds to stay warm and dry. NOT tourist areas

Blackpool seems to focus a lot on making the tourist areas look nice yet if you go just 1 street back from the prom, it’s like a 3rd world country. Money need to go on improving the areas where people live. Harsher repercussions on littering and fly tipping, incentives to improve the fronts if houses.

Back Street Joys

It would be great if some money could be spent in all the derelict back alleys around blackpool. I spent many hours as a kid playing in back alleys, they were safe and clkse to home. Now they are kept locked and filled with bin bags, washing machines and unused caravans. Wouldn’t it be great […]

Promenade and main artery upgrade.

The promenade between north and south pier has recently been redeveloped; continue this development towards bispham. Also, mirroring the sentiment of another suggestion, redevelop the main roads into Blackpool. Namely Lytham Road and Central drive, since these roads give a bad first impression of the town. Paired with the talbot gateway project, these improvements could […]

Feasibility/Development of Light Rail (Trams) to South Fylde

I propose that some of Blackpool’s fund be provided to development of light rail to South Fylde. This could be separately or in support of a FHSF bid. Homelessness
