Nothumberland Coastal Touring Route

Work with other towns to establish a Northumberland Coastal Touring Route and make motorhome visitors welcome by providing designated overnight parking for them. Blyth’s twin town Solingen does. Many motorhomers are retired and travel all year, they have the grey pound in their pocket which they can spend in our pubs, restaurants shops and attractions. […]

Mistake

I think you’re making another huge mistake by not making the market place Into an indoor shopping area, Cramlington proves this, a good part of the area could still be a market and would encourage shoppers to visit whilst avoiding the elements in the winter, I have no doubt the changes you’re proposing will make […]

Blyth in a whole

I came to live in blyth because of how cheap it is to buy a house but I hate going into the town centre. Can we not do a localised programme for anybody with addiction or anyone problems with shop lifting. We also need better shops, no more vape, barber, charity rubbish shops but actual […]

Town museum

A museum/art facility in the town centre. The old habour commission building or police station would be ideal. We have a fantastic heritage in Blyth and as time goes by it will be lost.

Identity

Blyth used to be a seaside town with candy striped shop Canopys . It’s now mostly gray . More colour to be added …more electronic signage ,a giant screen for info placed up high it could tell you the latest deals from the shops ,public info the next bus leaving etc …more interesting shops ,more […]

Market place

Return the market place raised flower beds and seating as it was in the 50s, 60s and 70s. The existing concrete jungle is an eyesore, and the area is far too large for the number of stalls using it on market days.

Market Square

More use of the market square, farmers market, events for kids during school holidays, Keswick in Cumbria has a fab market twice a week, could this not be emulated? Outdoor music events duing the summer, Jazz weekend, pop music weekend. Pop up bars and eateries, a bit like Newcastle christmas market!

Use of empty building around Blyth as a way to bring in new jobs for young people who need work

I suggest that all the buildings around Blyth that are just sitting are used as a multitude different areas of work like you could use Northumbria house as a Metro Centre, I.e have an arcade area for weekdays and weekends, an American style restaurant like Frankie and Bennies, a Cinema and use the extra space […]

I have a whole bunch of suggestions

Revamp the market place. Create a small place for cars on Waterloo road. A bus that runs through Blyth without having to get several buses would be nice (south beach to asda direct for example) Modernise the main town centre. Remove the unused water features in the market place & the random satellite. Better security […]

Market Square

The market Square is a blank canvas but should really be the show stopper of the centre of the town. to attract new businesses or existing ones a proposal of reduce rents for a period of time to fill the spaces in the centre or asking the to relocate would make the area more attractive […]

More police

We need more police on the streets, especially places like the market place but also the estates in Blyth as more and more cars are being broken in to, houses are being broken into and its disgusting but nothing is being done about it

Pedestrianise Bridge Street

The buildings on Bridge Street are some of the best in Blyth. Spend some money renovating these and invite independent retailers / small upmarket brands to operate out of them. The police station is crying out to be used and is beautiful. If this area could be pedestrianised it would be fantastic.

Boat trips

Blyth quayside would attract more tourists if sea trips were available. e.g Could go to the Tyne ,to Bamburgh mooring at Seahouses, or out to look for whales and dolphins.

Bus station

Instead of bus stops being repositioned to the market square, if the bus station requires moving could it not be moved to the bridge house area?
