Preserve, Protect & Police

Preserve the town’s history – yes the town has to be viable & modern to attract trade, but why not convert existing buildings to be fit for a new purpose rather than demolish them & build characterless concrete blocks. Put the much loved town clock back, maybe in the Memorial gardens – keep some of […]

Improve Crawley College Tower Block

This building is so old it’s probably only good enough to be demolished and rebuilt. The sinks often run yellow water whilst washing your hands, that’s if the water even comes out at all. The classrooms are full of flies which is a huge distraction as they come in groups and hang around the closed […]

Invest in our hospital!

Our hospital is so rundown. It has really minimal uses and I can only imagine how difficult it must be for some people to travel to East Surrey for most appointments. Our hospital is a very good size so why not utilise it to it’s greatest potential!?

Regeneration

Regeneration of Broadfield would encourage younger professional couples or small families to move out in this direction and commute into London. It is difficult to attract these types of individuals whilst crime is rising and people are feeling a little unsafe at times. I believe that Broadfield could do with a vast overhaul- some green-spaces, […]

Improve Queens Square

The recent expenditure for Queens square was awful. It just resulted in a less green, wind-swept, stark, concrete abhorrence attracting a lot of the wrong crowd (or no crowd at all). You need to make it more attractive to sit out, socialise with entertainment possibilities (obviously not while Covid-19 is rife).

Planning

There are so many planning breaches that are turning the whole town into looking a slum. It takes years for the planning department to sort breaches and still they allow some things that are against planning regulations. When the town was under the Commission for the New towns, it looked clean and smart. Their regulations […]

Roads

Which agency is responsible for the upkeep of our urban roads. They have failed catastrophically and should be held to account by the thousands of motorists who have to travel on sub-standard, dangerous roads while £250 million is spent on upgrading the M23 which now apparently is under review.

Regeneration

Demolish the Central sussex college, and rebuild. Maybe on the old Fire HQ site. Introduce youth clubs to give the kids something to do. Open up the Queen’s square for evening/nightime entertainment. Fix the potholes. 25 million isn’t enough! But it’s a start.

Shops in Town Centre

Crawley used to have a fantastic town centre with lots of good shopping options, however it now seems to be turning into a series of new apartment developments, coffee shops and sports shops. No one will want to live here with a town centre full of sport & soccers / costa coffee shops!

The state of the roads in Crawley are awful, full of potholes and no road markings. These need fixing. Also grass verges made into proper parking, most verges are churned up where people bump up on them, so make these permanent parking to ease the parking situation on most side roads.
