Safe overnight stops for Motorhomes

We travel all over this country watching and writing about pantomimes usually over Christmas. It is a real challenge to park and find places to stay overnight, I contact councils in the towns or cities we are visiting and they have been most helpful. We have now joined CAMpRA (Campaign for Real Aires UK) Please […]

Lots of local road have really damaging pot holes and need resurfacing. Lots of poor cars are really suffering and they’re not cheap to repair.

Govt money

Jeep the funds away from South ribble Council. They will eat the money in admin costs and have very little to show for it. They are experts at spending public money. Just look at the council tax bills and where everybody is trying to balance their budgets this doesn’t apply to the council who just […]

Infrastructure

In investment into infrastructure would benefit leyland in a number of ways. To reduce congestion and also more businesses would get confidence and productivity from better transportation and efficiency. With the growing number of houses this seems like a step forward to securing the towns flow and neighbouring villages and towns.

Police

In late they shut down the local police station. since them crime has increased dramatically. funding for more youth centers and local business.

Youth activities

I would suggest youth activities are invested into. We need to to get the children off the streets and have a safe place for them to ‘hang’ there is a huge problem with anti social behaviour around shops and takeaways and it is getting scary. The gang culture is spreading to Leyland and I believe […]

Better investment for small business

South Ribble BC does not give grants for start ups. All the advice given is for loans. Unlike neighbouring councils. So basically you are straight into debt before you even starting to trade. Also the building of small business units. There seems to be a trend of building bigger units which a small business could […]

Youth services

A centre like the youth zone in Chorley. This could help with anti social behaviour and increase community involvement and physical activity. Possibly use the site being vacated by Aldi.

Roadside Parking

Take cars off footpaths by creating parking spaces, install driveways at Social Housing properties. Ban Work vehicles from overnight parking on housing estate roads (Van only parking spaces) Create school drop off areas to remove “School Run Congestion” and fix potholes instead of simply patching.

Better Town Center

An improved town center would help Leyland – an entertainment center with bowling, cinema – good resurants with home cooked food rather than ready made packet food, interaction centers for children, more activities like mini festivals – things that can bring the community back together rather than spending their money in Manchester, Liverpool. Improve the […]

Focal point

Leyland has an amazing history with Leyland Motors, lots of photos and memorabilia around the town showing the history, including an old tank on a gateway round about. However, like many towns it has been left to decline. I would like trees on the High Street, new consistent paving which is navigable for a cross […]

More Niche Sporting Facilities

Despite having Worden park and other green spaces there is a lack of free to use, alternative, public sport facilities around leyland. Sports like Basketball have a few courts such as the one near Leyland Youth Club but this court is poorly maintained and hazardous to use in winter (and summer if the moss isn’t […]

Young people

Play area like assault course age various, youth clubs for younger children instead of targeting teenagers and a craft place where younger ones can show off their abilities. Finally a small clinic where people could go for minor ops instead of travelling afar

Better shopping centre.

Leyland needs to modernise with more diverse shops. The community has greatly expanded in the last decade but nothing much has been improved to encourage people to shop in Leyland.Run down shops,to many hairdressers, barbers and beauticians to say nothing about all the fast food and restaurants.

A shuttle bus for college students

A shuttle bus for college students from the college to the local Tesco and town centre. This will increase economic activity and help to increase GDP aswell as aiding students. This is because many students are unwilling to purchase goods from smaller businesses due to the long walk and congestion this walk causes. Therefore, a shuttle bus would […]

Shopping town centre upgrade

The centre of Leyland has gone from a Nice market town where you could buy anything into somwhere that is undesirable to go. Barbers, takeaways, charity shops and even the odd betting shop has taken over. We need to make it a destination again and people must have reason to go! Remove the crap shops […]

Youth facilities

Bowling alley, mini golf, climbing centre something for the young adults. An ice skating rink would be excellent ! No more supermarkets. The kids in this town and surrounding rural areas need some stimulating activities. I’m sure all the adults in this town would like to see the kids off the streets with some purposeful […]

Invest in the town centre

I would like to see the buildings and shop fronts given a revamp. Modernise the look of the town centre and help attract more independent businesses to the area. Somewhere for teenagers to meet other than street corners would also be good. Follow Chorley’s lead and improve facilities for all.

Increase policing

I’m unsure if there has been any documented increase in crime levels in this town but throughout the towns’ social network there appears to be a rising level of crimes that are not attended, not reported or dealt with in a vigilante way, largely due to a severely low police presence. The police station has […]

Green Spaces / Unruly youths

Either create more green spaces or maximise the current ones There seems to be a growing trend for young men in particular to walk the streets at all hours and cause criminal damage or abuse / assault people. This should be tackled either by extra police or somewhere built.fir them to go

Attract the 20 year old

Cafes should open that are attracted to people in their twenties. There needs to be more reason for people to visit this town as a lot of the time you have to drive to other towns as there is nothing aimed at people in their twenties. There should be support for these businesses as Leyland […]

Reduce HGV traffic through town

Currently articulated lorries come off junction 28 on the M6 and go via Turpin Green Lane to Golden Hill Lane and Tomlinson road where depots are. This puts a lot of wear on the roads, pollutes the air and the noise carries on right through the night. There are many houses along this route and […]

Just get it done!

Leyland desperately needs a full review of road layouts, road surface conditions and the positioning of pedestrian crossings. There are too many Roads & Avenues that need RESURFACING (not just filling potholes) to list! Hough Lane & King Street need to be one-way or make Hough Lane pedestrianised. The pedestrian crossing outside The Gables needs […]

Youth Club

A youth club for teenagers. They are bored and I’m not surprised. They want to meet with friends but end up going to McDonald’s or just hanging round getting up to mischief at best or crime at worst. Ideally youth clubs with different ages, say 9-12 and 13 to 16 as an example. I’d be […]

Speed control measures

I would like to suggest that speed control measures are put in place on Dunkirk Lane in Leyland. The speed limit should be 30mph but this is not often adhered to. This is mainly a residential area with a school and the speed of some vehicles is shocking. Also the road is used by many […]

More parking around the runshaw college area for students. Students who have cars to pay for and therefore can’t afford bus passes have nowhere to park. There is not enough space on Worden nor Euxton Villa. This issue needs fixing

Youth Activities

Much better facilities for the young people of Leyland. This could include better sports facilities and a youth centre (like the one at Chorley). The town really needs additional foot ball facilities that are available to the public all year round.

Roads/Recreation/Refurbishment

Roads – Priority is the state of the roads. They are shameful. Yet still they build on green belt areas, adding to the situation. It is not bad, more disgraceful how bad the roads are. Recreation – our young people need somewhere to go. More availability of resources for them. Conduct a poll of pupils […]

Modernise

The main stretch of town looks neglected and dilapidated. It needs tidying modernising and brightening, currently it looks shameful, which is sad as it has so much potential! I love Leyland and I want to see it and its people well represented, nice enough for people out of area to want to visit it too. […]

Make Leyland Future Proof

With the increasing amount of new builds an investment in infrastructure should be made: Culture: It would be lovely to see developments of more social venues e.g. coffee shops, bars, restaurants. The town centre could be re designed to improve shopping and provide a community hub with activies accessible across the life span, especially helping […]

Modernised town centre

The community would benefit from a modernised town centre. Tired and dilapidated buildings/shop fronts look unappealing and deter excited new businesses from investing into the high street. The market could also be updated to represent the popular new trend in markets that specialise ‘street food’. It would be nice to have the market as a […]

Health and safety

There is a lot of congestion and pollution in leyland. There are constant traffic jams. Also some of the roads are really unsafe due to increased traffic, especially outside some schools. Something for us to do

I think the money should be invested in more things to do for example 1.A new leisure centre/spa 2.The town centre being improved 3.More parking to go do said things 4.Improve the park with gym equipment 5.more upkeep on the land grass , hedges etc Thanks for listening

Gym

I would think a free out door gym on warden park would be great for the health of the people of Leyland, I moved her recently from a area we’re we had a free gym on the park, great for people who are unable to afford a gym membership

Encourage more investors

Leyland needs smartening up and new nice wine bars for evening get together. Places for young people to meet too for evenings and enjoy activities such as table tennis and table top football and pool. The pavements in and around the area need re laying desperately. Litter is also a huge problem.

Get People on the High Street

Let’s work towards getting people back into Leyland town centre. Encourage shop owners to open here. Less charity shops and more independent stores and cafes. Free parking would also help. People need a reason to come to Leyland to shop and this is lacking at present.

Amenities

There are a lot of new housing developments in Leyland but there is no mention of new schools being built, any doctors surgeries opening, roads being improved, things that a growing population need.

Improve shop frontage

Improve the shop frontage’s by making them all presentable. Same signage height and presentability. Remove barbers and hairdressers that underperform and replace them with actual shops! Theres minimal revenue being generated on Hough Lane, the town centre. Oh and finish block paving the path on hough lane. Improve Christmas lights, etc.

Activities and shopping

I would like to suggest that Leyland needs more nice places to eat and drink and maybe a new entertainment centre with bowling and mini golf I think that would take a lot of kids who just hang around causing trouble off the streets
