Safe overnight stops for Motorhomes

We travel all over this country watching and writing about pantomimes usually over Christmas. It is a real challenge to park and find places to stay overnight, I contact councils in the towns or cities we are visiting and they have been most helpful. We have now joined CAMpRA (Campaign for Real Aires UK) Please […]

Out of the box thinking :-)

“Let’s face it, town centre planners across the UK have been scratching their heads for years. A fortune has been spent on attempting to revitalise and return to the glory days of happy memory shoppping. Is it us oldies who are wanting this, do the millenials want what we used to have ? Rainworth

Rainworth is treated like a second-class citizen despite being right next to Mansfield. We have no buses into Rainworth after 7:05pm and have to pay extra for a pass that covers this area. The council-managed hedges that constantly cover large sections of the pavements are rarely cut back. It seems like nothing is done to […]

Save what can be

The only wrong with Mansfield is the vast majority of people that live there, anti social behaviour, health and non hygiene, druggies, problematic children who have learnt from parents, help the homeless. The roads all around Mansfield and villages going into Mansfield all need work doing to them, I know this is starting to happen […]

Warsop

Warsop desperately needs sports facilities- such a lot of people travel out of the area to exercise through gym, 5 a side, swimming and more. These facilities would be an investment. Parts of Warsop have now been left derelict for years and years, no change and no investment. Parish council should now go as I […]

Repurpose buildings/multi storeys

Adapting an existing building/multi storey car parks to be come a versatile space for pop up shops, street food stalls, roller rink, open air cinema. Somewhere similar to the layout of Handley Arcade would be amazing for low rate units designed for food and drink service from independent traders offering a diverse range of foods. […]

Make use of the Robin Hood Legend.

Anywhere else in the world there would be a Theme Park dedicated to the Robin Hood Legend. A theme park close to Mansfield would create Jobs and give people from all over the world a reason to visit our town. There is very little around Nottinghamshire to attract Robin Hood hungry tourists. We need to […]

Reinvigorate Mansfield town centre and have time working again

Minimise market charges for stall holders and any room / building rental – including incentives to landlords other than Council to minimise rent etc. Make homeless pod / basic accommodation within town centre empty buildings / derelict waste land. A residential town centre

Don’t walk around Mansfield at eye level look above. There are so many buildings which lend themselves to residential dwellings. If people buy or rent properties in the towns or cities they are customers for bars, restaurants, gyms etc. Towns needs to think differently

Four seasons update

I don’t know if this is possible or if the four seasons centre is local authority or privately owned but it’s in need of a refurb. It’s very dark, there’s no natural light and it’s become rather dated. The former BHS building also is huge and not utilities’d would make an awesome indoor market the […]

A fresh opinion

Skills – we have. Opportunities – we have. Location – we have. Transport links – we have A town centre worth visiting – ….. A market worth visiting – ….. I think there is a pattern emerging here, we do not need more franchised shops. Mansfield needs good quality artisan shops without huge rents or […]

Social and Entertainment

Develop Beales building into multi functioning social and entertainment hub. Could have indoor crazy golf, laser tag, escape rooms, office space, Internet cafe meeting rooms, chill out zones, soft play, cafes, alternative cinema (playing oldies) restaurants, bars the list is endless and if I had the money I would do it myself this would be […]

Anything that makes Money

Make The Town Clean And Safe

Stop crowds hanging in the town, make more youth services available, this town has nothing for teenagers unless us as parents pay for it. £600 a year for Saturday drama school with no help no scholarships or help for single parents.. Places to eat and Drink

Mansfield needs more places to eat and drink. There are too few restaurants in the town centre where you can go for something to eat and then have a few drinks afterwards. Most restaurants are situated outside the town centre and are a taxi journey away. The money could be invested in converting an unused […]

A town for the twenty first century

Cultural Quarter

Further develop/invest in the Leeming Street area to create a designated cultural quarter. The Old Library, Mansfield Museum and Palace Theatre already provide excellent cultural and vital community experiences but they all need further support, investment & promtion (buildings, storage, staff expertise).

Town/village green.

A small green area with places to sit in town centre. A nice place to meet friends or have a working lunch. I suggest getting rid of the small car park behind the town hall. A few stone benches and some trees will make a welcoming retreat to visitors. This space would be ideal for […]

Town centre regeneration

Pump the money straight into regenerating Mansfield town centre. Bring the market back, use part of the money to subsidise business rates to attract independent retailers back into the town centre. At the moment there’s no life in the town it’s just betting shops, takeaways and your high street retailers it’s depressing walking through the […]

Get rid of market as it is

Change the market into a more classy market like other towns. Currently what’s sold is tat or available in the surrounding stores. The days of market towns have gone. New road

Building another road Which leads into Sainsburys, aldi, McDonalds, oden etc would eliminate congestion and increase revenue for all businesses. More people would want to come to these places if the traffic wasn’t so bad

Car parking

Car park machines are pre-pay with the exception of the Four Seasons and that doesn’t accept cards. Make all car parks free to encourage visitors or add pay at the end and pay by card facilities. Also, more family parking spaces are needed.

Redefine Town Centre

Consolidate town centre “shopping” to the central Market and Westgate/Queen’s Street area only. The released buildings to be converted to residential areas to encourage local footfall. Demolition of poor quality buildings should be encouraged to provide open green space in the town centre. This would be particularly beneficial to the South side of the Viaduct.

Road Infrastructure

Widening of MARR across its length and the A38 from Kings Mill hospital to Available Car Supermarket at Sutton. Regeneration of Warsop

Warsop has a population of approximately 12,000 residents who have been forgotten about by the local authority. There is a serious lack of jobs and leisure facilities. LED DISPLAYS FOR BUSES

I would love for LED displays to be added to more bus routes, in Mansfield and surrounding areas. A secondary objective ought to be to renovate and/or […]

Street food market

I’d love to see a street food market like the Baltic Market in Liverpool, which is in formerly derelict premises. Independent Businesses

The current shopping set up is dying, many large chains have gone or are struggling. We need to go back to proper independent traders – grocers, butchers etc. To do that you need business rates that give them a chance to get established, build business and make a profit

Positive Investment

Regenerate the town centee

The investment should be channeled into making the town centre a attractive place to go.
