Kent Coastal Touring Route

Why not work with other towns to establish a Kent Coastal Touring Route and make motorhome visitors welcome by providing designated overnight parking for them. Many motorhomers are retired and travel all year, they have the grey pound in their pocket which they can spend in our pubs, restaurants shops and attractions. They need to […]

An area for motorhomes to park/sleep overnight

Overnight stops for fully self-contained motorhomes/campervans. This would be overnight parking (not camping) allowing sleeping in the vehicle. There are over 350,000 motorhomes registered in this country. Having somewhere to park that is accessible for the town centre will increase tourism and boost sales in town centre shops/pubs/restaurants etc. This has worked well in places […]

skatepark!!!!!!!

An outdoor skatepark in Margate would benefit the whole of the Thanet area and give the youth something to do (the area in hearts down would be perfect) Broadstairs is too small!

QEQM Hospital

Use all of the £25 million to improve QEQM, making it more efficient and build more triage rooms. As the triage rooms in the reception are very belittling and undignified for patients; violating patient, doctor/nurse confidentiality. Some of the money can also go towards looking at how the hospital is run and it’s structure, finding […]

Night Time Vibe

I’m sure I’m not the only person to have realised how different a place Margate is at night time. At night, Margate is scary. There’s a lot of sketchy people, and I myself as I’m sure many other people (Especially other young women out there) have had some really scary experiences. The entire walk down […]

The High Street

Develop the cliftonville area of the seaftont. We have baron grass fields which were old crazy golf and play areas. Plant trees and add benches. Make more wooded space to help the environment and people will enjoy sitting there too.

Homes

By building more social housing fewer people will be sleeping rough or in vehicles. Visitors can find this upsetting or off putting. Thanet has a current severe shortage of social housing with vulnerable people sleeping rough and many of the bed and breakfasts providing temporary accommodation instead of visitors to the area. So called “affordable” […]

Lido

This should be the done and opened up. More facilities adults and teenagers can use instead of being out causing and looking for trouble. Giving activities for people to do and a choice available will help bring money into Thanet, less trouble and things to do

Do something with the empties

I believe Margate needs a big clean up and all the empty shops to be filled maybe use it to help small business get a shop without charging them huge rates, imagine if all the shops was being used that would bring more jobs, Tourism And massively clean up the area. It would also add […]

Bring back the lido

You could spread it across loads of small things and not notice a major impact. Or you could invest all the money into bringing back the lido swimming pool. The lido is one of the only things in Margate which is now derelict. Bringing this back would add something substantial to the area! It would […]

Community indoor space

I lived in Margate to start a life with my partner, in a year there hasn’t been any improvement to the area, for a comfortable public space. It certainly doesn’t improve the amount of elderly and homeless peoples’ health that is affected by sitting on benches in Margate’s ghastly wind and rain. I hope you […]

Grass verges and herb cleaning

I am a 70 year old Margate born and bred and in all that time I have never seen our grass verges and kerb cleaning so neglected.I can’t remember the last time I saw a road sweeper or gardener working in my town. Its no good spending vast amounts of money on refurbishing our old town […]

A MARGATE & CLIFTONVILLE HEALTH & WELLBEING CAMPAIGN

Health inequalities between Margate & Cliftonville and the rest of the County/Country are absolutely shocking and totally unacceptable, with people in other parts of the country often living on average a decade or so longer. Margate & Cliftonville, should be the focus of a targeted educational campaign project, promoting healthy lifestyles. Getting and keeping people […]

Raise a new vision above and beyond

Seafront needs it’s 90s night life back, and tit for tat. Margate high street is crap, needs more publicity shops advertising dreamland for example ice cream. parlours, gift and souvenir shops etc, new seating and recycling bins, more trees and lighting, clifftonville needs arcades and takeaways like McDonalds, iconic statues and rebuild the pier its […]

Night economy and transport

(1) Money put into the High Street and surrounding areas to refurbish run down / closed retail units and turn them into independent bars, restaurants, music / arts venues and retail units. Margate can build on the budget promise to waive business rates for a year. (2) Redevelop the Arlington Square site. The site is […]

camping amenities

We should have affordable council run camping amenities with a camping car section. This would make staying in Margate more managable for many people, but especially younger people. These people would also contribute to the local economy. But I also think we should be providing a permanent travellers site with amenities such as waste collection […]

Skatepark!!

We need better skateparks in Thanet! We got one in Broadstairs after big hassle and it’s way too small, it gets used daily, yet whenever we building anything homemade the council knock it down? We easpially need one for Margate, Margate is always so busy skating is a great activity for the local youth, a […]

Young and Older

There needs to be better facilities for young people who have nothing available after 8pm or during the weekend thats inexpensive and they want to engage with. A sealife centre would be good for families when it rains. Renovating the Lido would be excellent for all ages. Coastal museum linked to sealife centre for older […]

Benefit the people of Thanet

What Margate has seen in the last decade or so is nothing short of gentrification that has led to an ever increasing, unaffordable rise in housing costs for renters and buyers in the area. Indulging in the indie ‘Shoreditch-by-the-Sea’ ideal that has formed around the budding Margate Old Town, has meant that flats by the […]

A skatepark. Skateboarding is in the olympics and Margate is probably the only town in the country without one

Capital Project & Toilets

I believe the majority of the money should be spent on a capital project that will bring tourism into the area and support both Dreamland and the Turner Contemporary. This will create new businesses that will employ local people and give much needed revenue to TDC & KCC which can then be spent on important […]

Beach recycling

Firstly, in the summer after hundreds of tourists descend on the beachs – there is so much plastic left over. Before the council has done anything, it’s washed away and the surrounding bins are insubstantial. Something needs to be done. Secondly there is dog poo everywhere. Places like Paris had initiatives that sorted this out. […]

A new look

Driving down the seafront of margate it all looks so dull and boring. Arlington house is a perfect example of that, whether painted or just cleaned I feel this will make a difference especially being so close to the train station this ugly eyesore is the first thing visitors see as they enter margate.

Skate park

After seeing the amount of people that use minster skate park (young and old) thanet is well overdue one, there is enough space in dane park or Hartsdown to build one and would be a great investment to the area

Remove and regenerate.

We must target all the eyesores in the town, either by enforcement or encouragement to reuse as residential or commercial/community use. Major sites like Arlington, the Lido need public, private funding,a mixed use scheme with public space. The Winter Gardens needs major investment along with further sites along the coast line. Public realm improvements on […]

Nash Road must be improved. For cyclists is a suicide to ride, for car drivers nightmare. It must be done to improve safety on our roads.

Invest in the Winter Gardens

I suggest some of the money be directed to refurbishment of the Winter Gardens. The building is in desperate need of help. There are so many parts of the building and venue itself that need help due to to neglect of the last 30 years of management and lack of care or investment in the […]

Make Margate great again

I loved dreamland as it used to be but at the same time appreciate that it is now a great events venue/fairground and brings people to our town in huge numbers. However I think dreamland can make better use of the Carpark and improve the park as they have the multi storey for car parking. […]

Cable Trams 🚃

I would like to suggest vintage cable car system that would be an icon of England and a sea side town. The cable car system forms part of the intermodal seaside transport network operated in Thanet. These would have a great environmental impact, tourism, and be hop on and hop off in key locations.

Ice rink

I’ve watched Margate decline over the past 30 years even with loads of new investments and ideas. How many people can afford art? How many people want to pay more for outdated rides at Dreamland which would only take up 2 hours than a whole day at Thorpe Park? The beaches, countryside and surrounding areas […]

Arlington arcade + Tourist shuttle

I’d like to see the area between Dreamland and the train station improved, perhaps it should be turned over to Dreamland? It’d be nice to see electric car charging in the car parks too to encourage electric car driving day trippers. It’d also be lovely to see a shuttle bus or land train go from […]

The seafront amenities

Facilities

Upgrade and build new toilets. Visitors are discouraged from attending if they are unable to find a loo. Park and Ride system Better planting around the area making area more attractive to visitors on arrival Larger more attractive litter bins (animal figures would encourage children to litter pick) Water attractions to enable children to play […]

Art Tourism

Millions of pounds could be spent on transport, connectivity, skills training, but ultimately Margate needs to encourage money / jobs into the area. I would suggest the town needs an initial makeover with properties facing the main sands being decorated / renovated in an extremely different and multicoloured way… Perhaps a joyful rainbow design incorporating […]
