Every year millom gets busier and busier with more tourists coming to this side of Cumbria. Having appropriate signage for where things are such as “town centre”. more parking: maybe expanding the exciting council car park into the only railway track. Also signage where parking is. Also providing a cummuting alternative for residents of copeland to work in the tourism industry of the central lakes, helping to fill a shortage of service industry workers […]

4G Sports pitch

The town is in desperate need of a 4G sports pitch to help the hundreds of children who play mini rugby and junior football stay active and learn valuable life skills through playing a team sport. It will also benefit the local senior sporting sides giving all year round training/playing facilities.

A tourism vision for millom

So I’ve picked over the bones of the Stronger Towns documents and it seems that the way to maximise the amount Millom gets from the possible £25m is to increase tourism to our town. If you have any ideas to make Millom more tourism friendly while still retaining our individuality please post below. It doesn’t […]

Linking Coastal Pathways

Make more of the Nature Reserve/Sea Wall area. Make the pathways much more accessible for cyclists, prams, wheelchairs – as in a smooth, continuous surface that fits the surroundings. Somehow join that area with the paths on the other side of the estuary – Old Iron Works side – so there’s one long continuous pathway […]

A few ideas

The town centre and surrounding streets need to look neat and tidy, empty buildings and eyesores should be made good. Traffic calming using attractive planters. One idea would be to get businesses and householders to all paint their houses in either pastel or brighter colours like in Highland islands and Norway. (Balamoray). More bins including […]

Office Facilities

There are plenty of empty office and shop buildings that can be converted to office space from this fund. A 5 year tax relief on businesses coming in. Create big advertising campaigns to attract companies that will offer employment, funds and growth.

4d pitch

A 4d pitch would be outstanding for our town. It would enable our children to continue their Rugby training (and other sports of course) regardless of the weather. We have some very committed youngsters in our area who unfortunately have to miss out so much due to adverse weather conditions which we so often get. […]

Since the old Swimming pool was demolished Million has been left with no facilities to teach children to Swim. The fact that the area is on a tidal estuary with many beaches it is only right and that the children of the town should have the facilities to enable them to learn how to swim.
