Safe overnight stops for Motorhomes

We travel all over this country watching and writing about pantomimes usually over Christmas. It is a real challenge to park and find places to stay overnight, I contact councils in the towns or cities we are visiting and they have been most helpful. We have now joined CAMpRA (Campaign for Real Aires UK) Please […]

Infrastructure & Town Centre

Nuneaton has undergone a large growth in population during the last 10 years. As it is on the commuter belt to London and Birmingham, money should be spent on two things. 1. Improving the services available to the relevant catchment area eg. doctors, schools etc. This should be government led investment. 2. The town centre […]

Reduce Parking Prices

By reducing parking prices, it will attract more people to just ‘nip’ into town but end up spending more than they allocated for as they have the option to browse. To charge over and above for parking when you can order online now is ludicrous and deferring people from using small towns when the parking […]

Hospitality

Nuneaton needs a new lease of life. People in the area love to eat and drink out. There is plenty of people in the town who want to spend money, with nowhere to go. High street restaurants chains such as Nando’s and Pizza Express would be great to get into the town.

Make it worth a visit

Reduce rates allowing independent businesses to move back into Nuneaton, making the town centre thrive again! Encourage larger stores to reinvest in the town because we have nothing to go shopping for! Improve some of the road surfaces. make people proud of the town again. Because I know most think it’s a disaster zone!

Shops Parking

A business rate incentive to encourage business owners to set up in the town plus car parking charges scrapped to encourage footfall into the town from shoppers further afield.

Roads and retail

Resurface all the awful roads with potholes and improve the one way system, build routes that don’t have to go through it. Build restaurants like nandos and retail parks and revamp existing buildings like the half empty one by the train station pound stretcher. Better and cheaper buses.

Bars

Nuneaton needs to keep the young people in Nuneaton rather then go elsewhere. Nuneaton has no variety to its places to eat or drink it’s the same pubs road after road. Something like teezers in Coventry would go a long way. Places where young people can go. Where they know other young people will be, […]

Sports Facilities

I understand the Pringles Leisure Centre will undertake a revamp. We are void of facilities in the local area for cricket clubs to practise indoors since the Bounce Cricket Centre closed. There are over 10 local cricket clubs, most with junior sections that will use the facilities for 4-5 months of the year. This is […]

Improvements

Free parking in town centre after 4pm and on Sundays. Small play areas such as a slide, ground trampolines through the town. A crèche, for child free shopping. A ban on street beggars.

Nuneaton is a tasteless tip!

Raze the place to the ground. It has some of the highest council tax in the country and provides very little, in terms of services. It has the highest level of new build in the country and yet the council does not seem to be able to get much needed doctors, dentists, schools, shops etc., […]

Town center

There’s nowhere to go out and socialize in town, it’s majorly depressing and people avoid it if they can and travel to places like solihull, Leamington and Coventry.

Improve the Town

Improve Nuneaton town. Since I was a child it has rapidly declined and the footfall seems lower than ever. Lower the rates on some of the buildings to entice new businesses in. I feel that if this isn’t addressed ASAP then the town will die essentially if it hasn’t already!

Schooling

With the increasing number of houses being built within the town I beleive we need to improve the existing schools and possibly look to add schools across the town.

A boost to workforce morale with potential unintended consequences on population health – must read

Now one must understand that this suggestion is not a hard policy but rather soft, and as such is rather inexpensive. I would sincerely recommend a statue in the centre of town (just outside Debenhams main entrance). This statue would be of a prime masculine man named Daniel James Nolan Miller and would inspire assiduous […]

The town center

Utilise the space that is being wasted! Use the space above shops for housing or youth centers. Allow the community to use the space. Put money into bringing shops back, lower the rent of the market stalls, this will bring more stalls into town and therefore more people!! Put on events and make it family […]

Improve layout and transport routes.

Reduce size of town centre to create focus, currently too many empty shops sprawled across too large an area. Create loosely defined sectors for entertainment, shops, culture etc to support this. Reduce rates/rent in remaining shop units to entice local and start up businesses to migrate or start up in town centre. The time of […]

Congestion

Sort out the terrible congestion on the ring road – it’s ridiculous that if you live on the other side of town eg Weddington, St Nicolas road you are forced to go through the town centre rather than routes be available which skirt the centre.

Roads

I would love the roads to be improved to provide more than one way over the railway line. Join Tuttle hill to Weddington, Golf Drive to the A5 and the A444 to Bermuda and cut the congestion! The town centre is gridlocked because of poor connectivity. Once this is done, we could have cinemas, theatres, […]

Town centre & infrastructure

Nuneaton is a growing town with thousands of new build properties underway.. whilst this is great & bringing money into the area, the town centre is outdated & in desperate need for investment to entice foot flow. Traffic/Congestion Fix

The traffic around Nuneaton Town centre is awful and is often grid-locked during rush hours. Reform the town.

Renovate the town. Include more shops. Make it more appealing. Looks awful at the minute. Needs to be refurbished in a way that people will like. Such as: making it more green, new building, fill empty shops in the same way that Poundland is renting out a shop for £1 a month.

Finish what you started.

1. Address the town centre gridlock caused by a policy of rampant house building without supporting the increase with infrastructure such as shops and schools in the areas where the houses have been built. 2. Address the poor state of the roads, not by patching which is a false economy, but by resurfacing properly. 3. […]

Town centre

1. Sort out the issue of shops closing down in the town centre. Serious issue that is killing off the town completely. Don’t let the snobs who own Ropewalk to charge such high rent for shops or there will be nothing left in there. Only massive chains are surviving, that’s NOT the spirit of a […]

Encouraging firms to set up in Nuneaton

Subsidising the local council to lower rents for businesses such as restaurants or clubs and pubs which encourage increased footfall would boost the local economy as a result but also restore civic pride for the people of Nuneaton. This subsidy would maintain the council’s budget while offering lower rents to businesses making Nuneaton an attractive […]

If you want to dispel the rise of internet shopping over the high street, you need to make the high street available when people aren’t in work. I believe that excessive parking charges are strangling our town (and others). It is no secret that high business rates are also hurting businesses. Car Park Demolition

The car park in Nuneaton isn’t used very much, there’s not many cars in there every time I go through. That space could be made into an indoor shopping area with the rent money from the new shops this would give the council more revenue.

Rejuvenate Town Centre

Use the investment to subsidise retailers coming to Nuneaton Town Centre. Currently, there is 0 reason to go into Nuneaton Town Centre. Better town centre

There are a few things that I could suggest in order to improve the town centre: – the spaces available for rent should be refurbished that way more businesses would be interested in them (attract bigger brands in Ropewalk) – in order to improve footfall, especially after 5 PM, the shops need to be open […]

Infrastructure

With a number of housing developments in the build stage or pipeline, I’d like to see investment made in the town’s infrastructure. Suggestions

-attract more popular retail stores by lowering Ropewalk rent -more entertainment, such as a cinema -invest more in making the area visually attractive eg. More greenery, plants, better Christmas decorations -better nightlife for students, eg. Opening a nightclub (not a pub) -attract popular restaurants into the area, eg. Wagamama, TGIF

Nice places to eat
