Make motorhomes welcome

I love the Redcar and Saltburn area and often come as a day visitor. I would love to stay overnight in my motorhome. We travel all year round and love visiting places out of season, but instead of welcoming motorhome tourists and the money they bring (and yes, they do spend money in local pubs, […]

What is the hub used for?

I read someone’s comment on Facebook and they had a very good suggestion of possibly turning the hub into the new cinema? It’s in a central location and there’s a lot of talk about redcar getting a new multiplex cinema so why not use all that mostly unused space in the hub if it’s possible […]

Shops and Sea Front

Need to bring in more High Street names, (e.g. Next, Ask Italian etc.), to make the place more attractive. The local landlords need some sort of persuasion, (lower Business rates?), to improve the properties above the shops, they are a disgrace, make the place look as if no one cares. The Sea Front needs decent […]

Town Centre Front

There are lots of old, scruffy looking buildings as well as empty shops all along the sea front starting at Majuba and leading up to the Park Hotel. I would like to see these tidied up. The buildings themselves look so grand and could really look impressive if they didnt look so scruffy.

Station Road

Doing up the top end of Station Road. Having a place where visitors can stay (Hotel) & will encourage people to visit Redcar more

Pleasure Beach

I think creating a pleasure beach like they have in Blackpool would attract a lot of people to the town and beach. There’s a lot of wasted space down near the old mungle jungle to make it happen. Thank you.

MORE SHOPS

Money needs to be invested in shops! (Excluding peacocks) There’s no men’s clothing shops, and there’s only two women’s clothing shops, and the town alone is on decline because of the lack of money gone into it. We don’t need fancy statues or anymore vertical Piers, we need shops!! Shops are what bring people to […]

All essential household bills ie; Gas, Electricity, Water, Council Tax & TV services should be frozen for 3 months in line with the mortgage relief/break.

Traffic

Improvements to the Marske by the sea bypass. It is the bypass that does not serve the purpose of making access to Redcar feasable. The traffic through Marske is horrendous for people living on the high street. There is no weight restriction on the high street, and because of the inadequacies of the bypass hgvs […]

Phone signal

Please could you work with EE/virgin media to improve the phone signal coverage throughout redcar. It is very unreliable in the Dormanstown area.

Green space near wheatlands primary be turned into a community garden and allotment, giving space to teach, relax and reducing antisocial behaviour ffom groups of teenagers forming on the grass

Majuba road

Make the big old skate park building look better. It’s the first thing visitors see on the way to the sea front and is off putting and not conveying a good image of the town.

Rail crossing

Fix the railway crossing at westdyke road. lower train track and raise the road. the new train service to manchester is great and very welcome but it means further closures (which can be up to 9 minutes) on a busy road. The closures often result in tailbacks up westdyke road past the tesco store and […]

Seaside Hub

In the height of retro and city/seaside breaks, return Redcar to the Victorian Coastal Attraction. More cultural facilities such as theatres, performance spaces, beach huts and other complexes. This will hopefully encourages children and vulnerable adults to gain skills and get young people interested in sports and arts instead of loitering around the town.

Hospital

Also I think more could be done with redcar hospital theres a massive field next to it why not extend the hospital and make it so that you can go with any illness more wards etc so you dont have to traipse upto james cook for just about everything, this too would bring more jobs […]

More support

More support for rehab and drug rehabilitation along with mental health services. This impacts so many lives and redcars heroin problem is only getting worse please take a minute to think about emma. She is on heroin and crack and is schizophrenic, she knocks on doors and windows asking for money and struggled massively to […]

Nice chain style hotel

At current there is nowhere nice to stay in Redcar, I feel this must be a massive reason why people don’t holiday here. B&B’s, guesthouses and dated hotels are not sufficient and don’t represent a contemporary approach. A hotel in the style of premier inn/travelodge would be fantastic, and ideal for the derelict Coatham bowl […]

Active Environment

Investment into cycle routes. Footpaths and connective routes to encourage active travel and physical activity to improve health. Improved access to natural environment such as Beaches. Cliff paths and country parks. Make use of old industrial areas such as SSI to improve access and encouraging activity. Cycle ways and footpaths. Local nature reserves and visitor […]

Redcar to Whitby work bus

Redcar is a town with a lot of low skilled workers out of work, and Whitby is a town with more service jobs than it can fill. A direct and preferably free bus route will encourage Redcar workers to fill the available positions in Whitby. A new partnership scheme between the two towns will promote […]

Seafront

We need a walk along pier with possibly some sort of theatre on it and entertainment. All seafront and town shops need to be filled, cleaned and tidied up and bring the old Redcar back more updated and a lovely place to make the public want to visit anf spend their money

Funding for local businesses

I would like there to be more funding available to be able to give out small grants to help small local business. There should be more activities for kids such as a cinema or a big play park. There’s nothing for kids to do around redcar n this is why there’s so much petty crime, […]

Redcar regeneration

Money to be spent regenerating the town centre. It’s looking rather run down and needs a good paint. Cosmetic work and more trees/plants to make it look nicer. Cheaper business rates so the town centre can improve. Shops like the M&S store have been closed for years. This could be used for a indoor market […]

Modernisation

The town of Redcar has so much historic value but there is a difference in highlighting historical architecture and just leaving buildings and the town centre to look worn down and unkempt. It is a shame to see what used to be such a popular town crumble and get left behind. The town is starting […]

Policing

The town is rife with teenagers who are unruly, drug dealers – theft and other crimes. Policing needs to be increased to put more people on the beat! To act on these people so they don’t think they can get away with it. To show them, from a young age – that making wrong choices […]

High street

Change the role of the high street. Death of the high street is real and high street brands are leaving. Change the role of the high street. Make it more accessible to smaller businesses with low rent rate and have a focus on regeneration to smaller local businesses.

Beach Front Lights

From the Beacon West along the sea defence line there should be lighting all the way to Majuba car park. This would improve safety and give a continental look and feel to the beach front. The surveillance cameras should be 24/7 recorded along this stretch of the waterfront, to improve safety and identify dog fowlers, […]

Tourism

As a formerly popular seaside town; it is now an ideal time to reclaim that popularity. However, at the moment, it’s not a very inviting place partly due to drunks and smackheads hanging around throughout the entire day. More police to drive them away? Also evening activities are popular (eg: Christmas lighting up) so more […]

More tourism

I think we should have some sort of theme park/water park to bring more tourists to the town, a holiday park like the ones you have in Scarborough would be good for the people that can’t go away on holiday.

Give redcar it’s identity back

With the devastating loss of the steel works, the real pier and half the shops on the high street, Redcar has lost its identity as a desirable seaside resort, as it used to have appeal similar to saltburn and Whitby. Better transport links and support for small businesses would help out Redcar back on the […]

Cleveland St. revamp and visitor destination with indoor market

Semi or Full Pedestrianisation of Cleveland Street with dropdown bollards, lighting, colourisation and an overhead canopy would greatly support footfall and the growth of Primrose Bell Market which supports local businesses and new traders around the area. The bohemian market includes music, food and drink and is becoming very popular as it grows to incorporate […]

Removing a bus stop on East Queen St

The bus shelter on East Queen St forms a visible barrier towards Station Road. Relocating it further up West Dyke Rd at the car parking area, will open this area up and help encourage traders into the empty units on East Queen st, potentially reducing the turnover of businesses here too. Many visitors to the […]

Make Redcar Great

My self and our family would personally love to have more shopping opportunities on the high street instead of unused shops. Both entrances to the shops (high street & seafront) should be down to the owners to ensure they are kept up to standard. More events for all ages that will attract footfall into the […]

Give more tourists a chance to visit

Build car parks, preferably near the beach for free parking as currently on nice days where many people (surprisingly) flock to Redcar the amount of people is limited due to the limited parking and exhausted high street not visited because of parking costs. If people could know they could easily park they would almost certainly […]

Seafront and attraction improvements

We could really benefit from a few more attractions at Redcar to make it return to the once busy and attractive seaside resort it once was, ice skating rink, bowling, trampoline Park, improved boating lake, fun fair, stalls on the sea front, better parking facilities, improvements to locke Park and Zetland Park more reason. For […]

Tourism

The beauty of Redcar is its location situated on the North Coast of the River Tees peninsular. Here we enjoy seaside sunrises and sunsets along seven miles of golden beaches. The high street is however overextended when it supported our once heavy now-departed industry, the property requires grant aid to turn back into homes and […]

Small business

It’s so hard to be able to start a business in this area due to externally high rent more money needs to be put into helping people start a business and open premises to bring money back to the high street and thus putting money back into local community

Boost employment

Turning some of the bigger empty shop spaces so that multiple small businesses can occupy, some of these are making the town look derelict. Also force rcbc to lower business rates to increase growth. More manufacturing needs to come to the area. More leisure areas to increase tourism, bowling, etc

Leisure facilities

Would like a leisure complex with sports facilities, bowling, crazy golf and maybe a small funfair. Something that would provide jobs for local people and would also encourage people to stay in Redcar and spend money instead of travelling to other areas for days out.

To buy the now closed skatepark and replace it with a large covered picnic area, with BBQ equipment near the large Majuba Road car park.

Get Redcar a “proper” pier.

Too much money has been wasted on ridiculous things the people of Redcar don’t want, for example the Vertical Pier! No body wanted it, it has been a complete waste, what the people of Redcar want is a real pier that extends out into the sea, this would attract visitors to the area and do […]

Local Jobs

Shops

In the town I think there should be more clothes shops as we only have a few. I think there is to many phone shops like the ones where ‘Claire’s’ used to be . Another suggestion I reckon there should be more shoe shops or baby clothing shops.
