Excite us please

Honestly, I’d like to see something different. Something fun. I won’t ask that you build us a shopping centre like Grimsby or Hull, because that won’t happen. I just don’t understand the thought behind an urban garden at church square. I spent many days there as a teenager but times have changed and that end […]

The pedestrian pound

One thing that would help Scunthorpe Town Centre is making it easier for people to walk and cycle in to it. Work done by Transport for London as part of their Mini Holland schemes showed that pedestrians and cyclists spend more in shopping areas, than similar places where car parking is king. Scunthorpe has the […]

Church Square

Would be lovely to have a pleasant green space for everyone to use, the only thing is it will need maintaining and if you look around the town as a whole there isn’t a lot of this going on. Bins overflowing, fly tipping, drains blocked etc. Might be worth spending some money to tidy the […]

Church Square

Please make good use of the vast space on Church Square. There are two big offices with thousands of people working there. Some public realm- green areas, benches water features oculd be placed down there so its a place people can sit and relax outside in a nice environment. E.g like the peace gardens in […]

Green Space

Keep the Idea of a industrial garden town. The green spaces and parks have allowed space for exercise while keeping our distance. Green spaces are good for our health

Hospital and shops

My opinion and many others all you have to do is publicly ask residents of Scunthorpe and they will tell you the high street is dead bring to the town a outlet like York or Sheffield or hull a real out let with branded shops like Hugo boss and vivianwestwood and flannels this should be […]

Hospital and shops

An additional hospital to serve North Lincs and reduce demand on SGH. This is essential to support the Lincolnshire Lakes development. Retail space on the high street should be reduced as there are more units than retailers. By condensing the amount of retail units the high street it will become more densely populated with shops […]

Its about the experience of the place…

Quality, vibrant public space forms a key component of any successful town or city centre. By improving layout, reducing the dominance of private vehicles and by making the centre more accessible, pedestrians feel more comfortable. Creating a distinctive environment helps to attract new footfall, provide a new sense of focus for the community and in […]

STOP making SO MANY CHANGES

It is really difficult as a long term resident of North Lincolnshire Resident of your second most populated town, Barton-upon-Humber to keep track of what service is provided from where in Central Scunthorpe. You change the names Scunthorpe Libary becomes SCUNTHORPE CENTRAL and no address or idea of where it is given on your web […]

Town Centre Scunthorpe

Encourage more shops with lower rent, look at making an family entertainment, with bowling, lazer quest, soft play, make an area for teenagers so they have something to keep them off the streets and busy. Also during the summer holidays after the pandemic has passed how about bringing the beach to the town with fun […]

Entertainment

A reason to to town other then shops. I come to high street for 20 21 and cinema. Used to come for the leisure centre. How about a museum or bouncey land etc. Also need more affordable public transport from the villages or safe cycle paths

Have some flow!

Push all the shops to the end of town where the foundry/parishes is and put it all under cover. Have everything from Barclays bank up to the top of town as local businesses and locally owned cafes and bars, with flats/apartments towards the top of town, reasonably priced to attract more people in to the […]

Food

Thousands of people would LOVE a Nandos restraurant, but instead we have to travel 60 mile round trips for the sake of a meal

Rejuvenation of Town Centre

A cash injection into developing the high street into a more appealing urban centre aesthetically. Perhaps an addition of more greenary, lower rates for small businesses including shops and restaurants to thrive. The town should have a much more diverse urban centre with option and opportunity which will attract younger people to stay or return […]

Public transport

The number 60 bus. That goes right up to Whitton and surrounding villages. Can this destination be moved to Winterton. Connecting bus to Hull or Scunthorpe can then be used. To go all the way to Scunthorpe takes approx 50mins or more. Winterton has good amenities for a quick shop if needed but to then […]

Re-organise High Street

The suggestion is to open up pedestrianised Street. For example, look at how busy Ashby is. Or look at Newland Ave in Hull. Open up part of the pedestrian street down towards primark. Get some passing trade, quick ‘nip’ in spaces to park. Quicker easy access. Scunthorpe is no longer a place where you would […]

A business enterprise stake!

Effectively, give loans to start up or struggling companies who support the local economy at lower than bank interest rates. Low risk with great reward possibilities. From Agricultural to Zoology, all ideas to be reviewed by a panel. As a finance and banking lawyer, I would gladly give my time for free to support this […]

Town part of the precinct into a mall

Scunthorpe town centre feels less safe now. Crime has gone up, there are less police patrols and shoppers are always exposed to the elements. I’ve heard about shoppers being attacked in daylight hours. Wind from the west or east blows directly along the High Street. Ice, rain and squall weather hamper shoppers. If part of […]

Scunthorpe alphas

I currently play for scunthorpe alphas which is a American football club which is new but I think for the town it’s a great thing and we would like to do a youth team too for kids so hopefully it stops them getting into trouble we as players currently pay to play but with abit […]

More youth clubs

This town desperately needs more facilities for young people, to keep them off the streets and out of trouble, most of the problems caused by the youth of today happen because they are bored and have nowhere to go. So provide them with a safe fun place to go and maybe they won’t be out […]

Cleaning up parks

Many smaller children’s play parks are tatty and abandoned and not maintained and could be refreshed. More opportunities for sport, positive activities, culture and physical activity for families in clean green spaces and safe-feeling places.

Invest in recycling plants

Invest heavily in recycling plants and hubs . Turn Scunthorpe from number 1 steel producer to number 1 recycling hub of the UK. Transfer dying labour jobs from the steal works to the plants and aim to offset hundreds of years of steel production. Provide many low skill jobs for the increasing amount of unemployed […]

Entertainment

Provide more entertainment for family’s and children i.e. ice skating. More shops and good food places like Nadia, Wagamamas etc. which are easily accessible. Clean up town town centre so people actually want to visit it.

Cycle storage and routes

Improve the routes into the town centre using the road rather than sending cycles up and down paths. Help local have safe parking for bikes possibly in undercover or cycle bins. Share the facilities between businesses and public sector in the town centre/church square area.

Town Centre

Use the money to help get new shop/business into the town centre, if you look there aren’t many decent shops and we need more so we can attract more people back into the town.

Outdoor improvements

A covered seating area in Central Park where people can get shelter from the rain instead of having to go home! A bandstand would be wonderful also so people can meet and play music and hang out. In Scunthorpe town centre we used to have the clock, it was iconic and a great place to […]

Cleaner town. More police officers!

So first what I would like to say, that Scunthorpe is well known for crimes and shady individuals. So called “crackheads”. Please, please, please.. We don’t want new parks or improved buses! All we want is to able to go outside without a new to constantly look over the shoulder! The streets are just nastier […]

Leisure attractions/faculties

Having leisure/activity centres which have things such as dry slope skiing/snowboarding, rock climbing, ice skating etc., would be enjoyable and fun for people living in Scunthorpe and nearby villages/towns, it would create jobs and make it more appealing for people to visit Scunthorpe. It would also generate money back in to the economy.

Make sure busses arive on time

I understand that roadworks STC can cause delays but there have been multiple times where I have had to wait half an hour for a bus that supposed to be every ten minutes on a shorter route. Even after leaving for the earlier bus I have had to wait and been late to my commitments.

Cycle Paths

Improved cycle routes and additional cycling routes. Better surfacing on some roads and pathways. Active involvement to clear roadsides and pathways of litter. Recycling bin lids to have a form of locking mechanism. Council recycling centres take more responsibility for litter blowing from the sites.

A15 to become two lanes

Developing the A15 to include two lanes from The Humber Bridge to Lincoln would improve trade with Hull and Lincoln. This would also allow more young people to access their universities and for commutes to become more appealing. Scunthorpe is far more affordable than Lincoln and if it were helped to become a commuter town, […]

Adult Leisure Facilities

I would like to see more adult leisure facilities built around the town. Facilities such as ice skating, indoor rock climbing, I believe this would provide more facilities for families to spend time together and more for adults to do other than spending evenings and weekends in public houses.

Town Centre major rejuvenation

The town centre is on the decline for many towns, but Scunthorpe is being decimated. We need to increase footfall in the town centre to keep and attract more shops. We have very limited nice places to eat out (or drink) in the centre and I believe this would make a difference. The town centre […]

Attractions/activities

The town centre is lacking ’things to do’. A suggestion would be to build some fun attractions that can suit all age groups for instance: indoor mini golf (similar to junkyard golf etc.), escape room, indoor roller disco, ice rink, indoor climbing walls, indoor water slides. This will provide the community with better opportunities for […]

Improve the Town Centre

Invest in litter control and renewing our run down town centre including more police which can patrol the area and improve the experience for the local people. Also assist in renewing empty shops and building to help the town really come back to life.

Town Center investment ASAP

More investment in the town Center and around, these areas are awful, a lot of closed down shops and only have go to the Center if I have to, the place is awful and definitely avoid! Need more shops, investment, revamp of town Center. This isn’t a place you would want to visit this is […]

Regenerate the high street

Scunthorpe high street has become a tired, run down place full of empty properties witj sky high rent and a haven for the homeless and drug deals. We need investment back in our high street and lower rents to help sustain local businesses
