Overnight parking for Motorhomes

The east coast resorts and its beaches are popular with motorhome owning visitors but sadly overnight parking for short stays is sadly lacking. I know there are campsites but I do not need or want to use all their facilities. I like to tour, staying one night or two, visiting towns, villages and sites. I […]

Between the banks

Pedestrianised are between the banks back to Aligitha Road which would become an outdoor eating area with fixed and quality mobile outlets. Barrier off access to Lumley Av from Prince George street. This would create a plaza effect ideal for cafe lifestyle with mixed eating and drinking outlets. The currently characterful building are the only […]

make chip alley undercover shopping area , this would enable people to browse and dine in a relaxed area , it would be something everyone could use all year round is this not what the local and district councils want , and yes i know it would be a major investment but well worth it

People who live here

Would be nice for a portion of the money to be spent on the community, winter ideas for the young, for single parents and and the elderly. A few youth clubs/associations where the young can hang out on a dark evening being safe and warm rather than on street corners. Places where they maybe able […]

So many ideas

There are so many things that the town could do to not only boost tourism but also improve how the town and coastal region functions during the summer season. Skegness needs a proper pier. What we have is more of a stump than an actual pier compared to other seaside resorts. A proper Pier is […]

update the town

skegness needs an ice or roller rink, multi-storey car park, lumley road pedestrianising and a bigger better swimming pool fit for families. these create jobs, help with congestion/lack of parking, along with an alternative to arcades and provide more options for year-round activities not just seasonal.

Floating harbour.

As This part of the coast shelves gradually rather than give the depth needed for a harbour, a floating harbour could be constructed accessible from the beach to encourage boats mooring and provide sea trips.

A Ground Fountain (or Play Fountain)

As found in several town and city centres now, a piece of ground people – and especially children – can walk on that has an array of programmable fountains, lights and music that can be anything from a simple and cooling forest of fountains to a spectacular display – and is especially liked by children […]

Large connecting boat trip/service

It could operate similar to a dayrider service between local seaside towns: Hunstanton – Skegness – Ingoldmells – Chapel St.Leonards – Mablethorpe etc. With on board cafe, lounge and open deck areas. It would bring in money, be a popular tourism point and maybe even ease congestion on the roads. Build facilities in each participating […]

Sea health path

Enhance the coastal path for disabled, bikes and pushchairs to encourage more healthy exercise between Skegness and Mablethorpe. Combine the funds with EA and the Coastal path funds, to make a suitable sea trail along our coastline. Encouraging more cyclists and walkers to visit and stay over. This will incorporate enhanced flood defences to protect […]

Parking and congestion

A park and ride scheme to cut down on congestion on roads going into and around the town, people who need the shops need parking and while there is a lack of affordable parking people fill up the shop carparks . Also in peak season anyone living near to the town struggle to use the […]

Update Skegness

I don’t think 50m will be enough. Skegness is stuck in the past and needs to become more upmarket. The shops have to be able to attract more people, a wider range of people. There are too many arcades, the town has to get into the 21st century. It will go downhill as long as […]

Dog buns

More dog poop bins . Especially on the front from car park down to Gibraltar point start point . Every road eg Albert AVE , Buckthorn ave . People either throw bags in hedge or don’t bother picking it up . I’m sure it’s due to lack of bins .

Beach Wheelchair access

Skegness on the whole is very wheelchair accessible. However when you reach the beach it’s a no go area. I would like to see a solid non-slip walkway built from the promanade right across the sand and into the sea. It would be so great if disabled people and wheelchair users in particular had access […]

Indoor Futsal, and sports stadium

I Think some of the money should be spent on building a indoor Futsal and sports centre/stadium. I moved back from Australia in 2018 after 12 years there and my children played high level Futsal, it has thousands of children and Adults playing it at all levels, There is also an international team called the […]

Box Gym

Installing a box Gym in the Skegness area as we have a blossoming CrossFit community, but the nearest facility is over an hours drive in Lincoln! CrossFit builds a multitude of functional skills including, strength, endurance and flexibility. Personally I have seen a significant increase in my personal well-being since taking up the sport! Free parking after 3pm

All council run car parks to give free parking after 3pm daily. This will encourage shoppers in to town, and also encourage evening dining/events carry on with free parking. Wouldn’t get abused by all day workers and holiday makers staying for the day as they would still have to pay for the day to park […]

A College for Skegness

Skegness desperately needs its own fe college that is governed by local people. For to long it has been afterthought by the local colleges Grimsby and Boston. We need a college that is managed and run by local people not people from outside the town. A new building with the same old stuff in won’t […]

Turn the streetlights back on

Paramedics can’t see house numbers. Half the town works in tourism until the small hours and can’t afford cars, so men and women alike are forced to walk home in the pitch-black in a place full of spice heads and drunks. Tourists don’t feel safe visiting anymore. Townspeople don’t feel safe. Those who have the […]

Coach park

Re-locate the coach park to north parade, this is an under-utilised area, dropping off visitors directly on the seafront would help the businesses at north parade and encourage visitors to explore the whole seafront. Also re-develop the bus station and refurbish the tatty shelters At the front of the coach park near Lidl, it’s an […]

Renovate the Boating lake area to create more interest for the South Parade Area of the Seafront.

Put some solar lighting and new seating round the boating lake and tidy it up, add some floral decoration for quiet strolls, create a square for a yachting pond within the boating lake and have a kiosk renting out boats, old style Yachts and sailing boats, in this time of nostalgia it would work well. Former beach chalets

The old beach chalets and toilet block behind the premier inn are a perfect project for this funding. They could quickly be converted into small units. These would be ideal for aspiring artists, crafters etc. It would provide opportunities for local residents to sell their crafts. I would suggest no more food kiosks. Make this […]

South Parade

South parade is one of the most neglected areas in the town, the former kiddies corner site and former bowling greens are in dire need of regeneration. This area is opposite guest houses and is a sad site to see. In the foreshore plan it was suggested this area becomes more of an entertainment/event space, […]

College

Bring back into use the college building on Briar Way, there’s lots of provision already in town but having a central hub and building in the centre of town would be perfect. With the extra footfall into the town centre it would also help revitalise the struggling town centre. This project would help both the […]

A shooting gallery

I think this would be a brilliant idea to have a venue for the local bag heads to round up in fully stocked with all the paraphernalia they require, this would help prevent them from littering our sea front and seating areas, and save our sore eyes too.

Extended spaces on Lumley Ave

Extend the free parking bays as far as you can heading towards Scarborough Ave roundabout. Increase free parking to 1hr. 30 mins is not enough if you just want to go into town to pick something up. There is never enough spaces at peak times and I think the town loses out to the retail […]

Help for small, local businesses

Is there any way of using some funding to reduce the rates for small businesses in the town centre? Most end up with rates that are ridiculously high, forcing them out, only to be replaced with more charity shops, hairdressers and nail bars. Also, more bins, more regularly emptied. The amount of rubbish on the […]

Infrastructure

The town needs tidying and painting. Businesses and properties are run down. We need better shops and relief for new businesses to get established. Marina and floral displays

Regeneration

Full revamp of the town

The town is very basic and stuck in an age. We are so used to the arcades and charity shops, the whole town needs a rebrand. People in there teens to thirties do not have much to do, there’s no prospects in this town. There’s a lot that needs changing but the only thing that […]

Cheaper train travel.

Our in town public transport cant be faulted in comparison with other places I have lived but unfortunately rail links just aren’t there. New Train Links

Transport links to Skegness are poor, despite it being a major tourist destination. Better travel links are required to help Skegness continue to grow. The town currently has just one railway link, the line to Nottingham. It would be of benefit to build links to the south, primarily London, to increase travel to the town.

Park and ride services

Decent shops

Skegness isn’t just a holiday town. Locals need to be considered too. It’s ok having ‘tat’ shops for holiday makers but other shops take advantage and stock higher end products. Decent shops for the local people in mind please. We don’t all have ‘disposable’ income to spend on necessities.

Recycled goods warehouse

This would work alongside the recycling centre and offer a huge range of preloved and recycled goods. Local people could be involved in up cycling and selling preloved products. This has been proven a great success in Scandinavia. The future is in the past.

New shops

Lumley Road is the perfect hub for businesses, however the existing ones aren’t stimulating enough. Costa is a really good start – however many people say that there are too many charity shops. Skegness could be a great economic hub if more popular shops came into town such as Primark, Dominos. Too many useless businesses.

Shopping Mall/ Roads/ Park & Ride

Shopping Mall for restaurants/clothing companies. Will create jobs for local area. Also the roads are terrible! Need ripping up and relaying. Especially on Roman bank and around St Matthews church. Multi Storey Carpark, but in town

Build a multi-storey carpark on the Post Sorting Office site and ask them to move to the industrial estate. This would increase footfall through the run down top end of Lumley road and naturally regenerate that area. It would also provide adequate parking for commuters wishing to use the train to Boston and beyond.
