Make Motorhomes Welcome

Why don’t we make motorhome visitors welcome by providing designated overnight parking for them. Many are retired and travel all year, they have the grey pound in their pocket which they can spend in our pubs, restaurants shops and attractions. They need to be within easy walking distance of town. They have fully self contained […]

New St Helens

Greener areas within town centre that can be used to put local events on. Housing especially for elderly and others that have needs in bungalows which bring a more community feel back to town. Money for mental health and careers.

Recycling

I think money should be invested in giving wheelie bins for recycling instead of bags and boxes. The amount of rubbish across the town is ridiculous. All the money being wasted on having to give more bags and boxes due to broken or blown away items and the rubbish it’s creating across the town is […]

Economy

Putting shops back in the town centre. I’m fed up of driving round 4 different sites to get my shopping. We need to fill empty units with respectable shops not ping pong or penalty shootouts. Put on events, provide areas for teens to hang out safely. Promote local businesses with the makers market and out […]

Make us proud

The town centre needs knocking down and rebuilding into something modern, attractive and multifunctional. We need to attract the people of st helens back into town, incorporating leasure activities and making the town centre something to be proud of that other surrounding towns will want to visit. Hopefully as a result this will create lots […]

Town centre facilities

Layout and structure of town centre needs a total re-think! We need to better connect the town and retail park – regeneration of the canal provides a great opportunity! We need to make it easier for small retail & food/drink businesses to thrive with smaller retail units and improved look and feel! Regeneration projects like […]

Focus on retail

Try and make the town centre more appealing. Similar to say liverpool one or Trafford Centre. Invest in the actual shopping part of the town instead of it being flooded with 3 McDonald restaurants and loads of closed down travel agents.

Cleaner streets

More frequent street cleans – there is dog muck everywhere Litter cleaning. Stopping fly tipping. St Helens’ streets are a mess at the moment and it is so sad to see.

Town Centre Investment

Invest money in the town centre by creating a focus for new small businesses. Encourage people to visit and create a centre for the community. At present, the town centre is being allowed to effectively die while too much focus is being placed on new house builds, without the necessary infrastructure to support this mass […]

Children education

To open a free nursery for children, a government nursery not private . Most of people don’t have money to pay for nursery, but kids need education before they go to school

Investment in Youth

I suggest money to be spent investing in the youth of society. More social clubs, sports clubs and activities for them to get involved in outside of school. I feel like will help up skill them for life after education and also keep them off the streets causing trouble. Also relieves pressure from authorities having […]

Regeneration

There are a great many developments sited around former brown sites. These new estates are often connected by a series of abandoned or run down properties. These need to be enhanced or removed. The town centre also requires significant investment

Town Centre

The town centre needs TLC. Everything has been moved away from it on to retail parks and is dying. A major refresh like Warrington did with Golden Square all them years ago

Canal

Make a feature of the canal, with cafes along, pedestrian and bike paths only.

Regeneration of highstreet

The main high Street has been decimated over the past few years. It only takes a short walk down the street to see empty shops and short lived ventures. A small group of familes own most of the property in the town. I believe that the local authorities need to buy back some of the […]

Re-invention of the high street

1) High street rejuvination: St Helens high street has seen a number of shop closures. Whilst some have moved to the retail park, the center has no shops to pull people there. Infrastructure investment into the highs treet to turn old abandoned shops into multi purpose spaces that are central and functional. This could be […]

Remodel town centre

There needs to be a town centre redesign to make the area attractive. There needs to be less shops (we can’t fill them), cheaper business rates to attract in independent businesses, improved environment with more greenery and landscaping, plus some places to sit. Planning needs overhaul to limit pound shops, charity shops, card shops. Invest […]

Focus on Youth

1. Young people who succeed in education cannot wait to leave. 2. Young people who don’t succeed stuck in dead-end jobs, gig jobs, or no job at all. 3. Foster pride and invest in town’s heritage. Using canals, glass museum altogether we could have a heritage industry to compete with Blists Hill or Beamish. Providing […]

Earlier club/bar closing times

Most clubs in St. Helens stay open until 5 o’clock in the morning. That’s disgusting if you ask me, 5 o’clock is when the birds start tweeting, the elderly go for their newspapers and some people are going to work. The last thing they need to be confronted by is a group of drunken people […]

Town centre

We one hundred percent need to improve the town centre. St Helens gets such a bad name due to the cleanliness and the appearance of the town centre. Everything is closed and there are no shops, investing in a shopping centre could increase revenue for the town as a whole.

Help the less fortunate

Above all else, we need funding to help the massive amount of homeless people living in and around St Helens. Suggesting funding for shops and other things to enrich people’s lives is no use – there is no point in giving some of us luxury and doing nothing about those of us living in horrible […]

Town centre

Invest money into more activities available to teenagers and young people. Growing up in St. Helens I knew there was never anything to do. I think it will be great for the youth and discourage antisocial behaviour. Put more money into night life it will encourage people to go to St. Helens rather than avoid […]

Parking Fees

Free parking on all car parks, or an out of town car park with free bus service to get you in to town. This would bring people back to the town centre, where they would start to spend their money. The shops would then generate a profit, creating jobs for shop workers, which would then […]

Everything that other towns have.

Museum, Library, Heritage Centre, Outdoor Activities, Live Music Venues, nice Cafes. Places to learn, keep healthy & experience culture, history & the arts. It is shocking that other town centres have these basic entry level requirements & st.helens does not. No wonder it is the suicide capital of the country. People turn to drugs & […]

Restore the canal

Sankey canal. The first industrial canal in Britain and it was filled in by st Helen’s council. It should be reopened and restored to attract business and tourists to spend money in the borough. Secondly the town centre should be demolished and a park built around the church and the world of glass Thirdly cannington […]

St. Helens town.

• clean up the homeless people. Sick of seeing people sleeping in the doorways begging for money. It makes a depressed town centre even more depressing. •we have the highest suicide rate in the country so obviously that needs addressing and more money investing in that area. •go back to free parking after 3pm and […]

/sports area

I think for the majority of young children in St. Helens aged 11-16 there isnt very much things to do , a set of AstroTurf should be produced like the ones in Prescott or jmo In skem, thus will mean that more young children will get active and go there carefully. It would also be […]

As more and more large corporations move operations outside of London to cut cost offer them a subsidised place in St Helens to invest, it’s a great location between two large university cities in Liverpool […]

1. Mental health services – reduce the waiting times 2. More money for the police 3. Improve the town centre – free parking or have a shopping centre built. Bring in more jobs to the area and more money to the economy. 4. Houses built on brown fields sites 5. Get rid of derelict buildings […]

Sankey canal

The canal can bring much needed tourism to Saint Helens. Make it navigable and link the town into the countrywide canal network.
