Hemlock Stone Monument

A Hemlock Stone monument placed in the town centre would be a creative way as part of a project to tidy up Stapleford town centre and make the area more appealing to visitors and locals. The Hemlock Stone it’s self is a nice place to visit, a geological interest, Mythical and is a great part […]

Local road improvement

Most of the road surfaces around stapleford are shocking, and a few roads are used as a regular cut through by speeding cars, meaning heavy and dangerous traffic. E.g Brookhill Street, Blake road and Windsor street. So maybe resurfacing the road and adding speed humps would reduce this issue

MORE RESTAURANTS?

since Creme changed to sanctuary and moved to daytime (amazing by the way!) We’ve lost an evening restaurant. Buonissima in Sandiacre is fab but a little too far sometimes so maybe something similar. Daytime and evening meals. Find ourselves going to beeston or further when we’d like to support our town.

Skatepark

An overhaul of hickings lane skatepark or a new one entirely. This would give young people something to do and would keep them off the streets and involved with crime.

Fairfield Primary Academy Parking

Of recent years, it has become more apparent that people have little to no respect for pedestrians. On one occasion I witnessed a young lad on his way home from school in an electric wheelchair, unable to pass because someone had parked on Toton lane, so close to a lamp post that nobody could pass. […]

Ideas

Regular connectivity to the Tram. A splash play area on Hickings Lane Park. Get rid of the speed bumps in the centre. Stop letting the pub have empty barrels outside. Another crossing near Iceland to the Square.

Hickings Lane Recreation Ground

Can anything be done about the parking issues on Hickings Lane. When the football is on the parking is not only inconsiderate it is dangerous. Parking on the grass, parking on the pavements. The park is only so big and not all of the local children and people are interested in football. So can something […]

Tram link

The Trams linking Stapleford to Beeston, Chilwell and beyond, are brilliant. The problem, is getting to the terminus, near Bardill’s Garden Centre, from Stapleford. If you haven’t got a car you’re stuck. If you want to go to Beeston in the evening, or people from Beeston want to come to Stapleford, the only way is […]

Hickings Lane Recreation Ground

Hickings Lane Recreation Ground is a large area and better use could be made of it. At present it is very well used by Stapleford Town Football Club and floodlighting would be beneficial to enable the club to train during the darker nights. Also rebuild the club house and turn it into a combination of […]

Safer town

More on the ground policing and speed humps along hickings lane and pasture rd it is like a race track at times both of these roads have children’s parks on them Ide hate to see a child injured or worse due to the people disregarding speed limits

Various suggestions

At least one bank. A very important issue for the needs of people in Stapleford. The nearest banks are Beeston and Long Eaton, why should people in Stapleford have to pay for petrol/bus fare simply to reach a bank? A non-charity clothing shop. Whilst charities are important, not every item can be purchased in a […]

Invest in making the town look appealing

At the moment the town centre looks as though no one cares! Stapleford has a strong community spirit but this isn’t reflected in how it looks. Some investment to make the focal points around Derby Road look better, more attractive signage for businesses, repairs to railings and pavements, proper resurfacing rather than filling the profiles […]

A town square/public space.

Tear down bargain buys/the old co-op and create a town square/public space where events could be held if need be. Encourage local farmers markets once a month whilst also supporting local groups and schools to use it too. Make a lasting memorial or fountain to our war dead and worthy local residents past and present […]

Encouraging new businesses

To use some of the monies to reduce business rates to encourage new businesses to come to Stapleford, that aren’t takeaways, barbers or hairdressers. Reinstate a street cleaner to walk the streets and clear the dog mess, in hot weather the stench of dog mess is unbearable. Children’s play area and outdoor exercise equipment for […]

Re surface the roads.

The road quality in Stapleford is appalling, Ryecroft Street, Wadsworth Road, Ewe Lamb Lane, Moorbridge Lane, and Pevril Crescent. And this is just to name a few. It has some of the worst road qualities around.

A overhaul

Resurface mostly all of the roads and the pavements, have a better variety of shops we don’t need a million charity shops, 2 card shops and about 4 vape shops I only go to Micks vapes and that’s about it. We also need to get a bank back and a police station so it doesn’t […]

Super Community Centre

As mentioned already but i strongly believe that a community centre on hickings lane rec would be good. A nice middle of stapleford area that is easy to get to. It does need to be a for all space that all ages and all abilities can access and use and i also agree it does […]

Resurface the roads

Resurface the roads and remake the road jumps through Stapleford as there is too many pot holes in the road! It’s alright resurfacing the road outside of Aldi but just past Aldi is the school and outside of that school the road is atrocious and pot holes are getting worse! There are speed humps with […]

Community cafe

A space accessible by families, small children and disability friendly, breast feeding positive. Local produce and training facility. Craft events and social eating space to reduce social isolation. A table promoting social chatter. Providing take home service and produce which can be composted. Ie coffee grounds etc. The ability to purchase drinks and food for […]

Baby Cafe

A baby friendly cafe with different baby, toddler events/ groups held there, like when we had Milk Lounge in Beeston, and now the Caterpillar Cafe in Long Eaton. Somewhere local where we can walk to would be ideal.

Community Centre

A new community centre that could be used to hire for parties as there is nowhere nice locally, or concerts, exercise classes, or perhaps be turned into a mini cinema at times.

Parking

To encourage more business to Stapleford, more parking is required. Cliffe hill is currently the only place to park for more than 3 hours but is usually full by 9am. More business means more visitors to Stapleford!

My town meetings…

Your meetings encourage residents, businesses to participate but your meeting is 2pm-4pm on a Friday. I for one would like to get involved as both a resident and business owner, but you pick a time most of us are at work and unable to attend. Could this not go ahead early evening to allow more […]

Improved rail connectivity

The proposal to open the Maid Marion line to Toton offers an opportunity to introduce tram train technology. Having a tram connection from the town centre to Sutton Parkway would improve connectivity from the town centre, instead of having to drive to Sutton Parkway.

Cycleways

If Toton Strategic Location for Growth (TSLFG) is developed broadly as envisaged in https://www.emcouncils.gov.uk/write/East_Midlands_HS2_Growth_Strategy_-_September_2017.pdf, residents of Stapleford will need to travel to TSLFG to work, and residents of TSLFG will want to travel to (regenerated) Stapleford to shop. If developments within both TSLFG and Stapleford comply with Broxtowe’s Policies 14 & 15 – as published […]

Secure cycle-parking

Residents should be able to cycle to Stapleford’s shops, and then park their bikes where they won’t be stolen, while they do their shopping. How about putting some secure cycle-parking facilities near Stapleford’s shops? This could be done, for example, by extending the https://www.transportnottingham.com/cycling/park-your-bike/ system into Stapleford town-centre.

We need a centre

The town needs a central place, square or some such. High streets are changing. I don’t think people will use things like butchers and veg shops unless they can compete price wise. What does work is creating a space people can wander in. A destination space. Food, drinks, leisure.

Green corridor nature reserve

Let’s take the opportunity to be ambitious. I’d like to see use made of the green corridor which runs parallel and to the west of the high street from Mill Rd down to the railway bridge at Sandiacre. We could have a nature reserve, a couple of bridges over the Erewash to access land on […]

Town centre

Pedestrianise the high street this would hopefully encourage people to linger longer while shopping with not having to keep crossing a busy road. It would also cut down on air pollution in the area.

Park.

Maybe a splash pad for children to enjoy in stapleford instead of having to go to long Eaton or where ever. Bring people to stapleford.

Bins.

More rubbish bins in stapleford and more dog poop bins for all the dog poop around. Maybe put poop bags out on lampposts for those who haven’t got any bags to pick it up, as it’s getting really bad.

Suggestion

A place for children/teens with additional needs. Although we already have youth groups a lot of them don’t feel like they can go down to bullying they get for being different. I believe it’ll encourage them to be independent as well as getting them out of the house to be able to enjoy themselves

Suggestions

Make Hickings Lane a better place for all to use and not just a place for playing football, sort out the parking on Hickings Lane too. A bigger pavilion come community centre is needed and let everyone use it.

Music Celebration

Work with other towns in Broxtowe like Beeston to perhaps extend events such as Oxjam into other high streets to showcase local musical talent and to attract in visitors

Stapleford Arts and Crafts Forum

Invest in the community spaces to pull together the wider arts and crafts community to deliver an event or two each year showcasing the local cultural talent. Perhaps a small unit to be used as a gallery (allowing sales of art work?) alongside a temporary annual event (running for a couple of weeks) that could […]

Mini Market

A mini market would be ideal for Stapleford. It will really bring that community spirt back and improve footfall for other businesses. Along with entertainment (music/shows/dancing) nothing brightens up your shopping experience more with some good old fashioned entertainment.

Pub/restaurant

A good local British pub/restaurant/wine bar. As a young married couple we are constantly travelling to eat with friends and would love a great place to eat and go for drinks locally. This is a very popular way people are spending their money in today’s society. A good social hub with great food and a […]

Town centre

Narrow the road around the square, move the bus stop. Make the walter parker as big as it can be for public events etc. Use the poundstretcher and adjacent Victoria st car park to build an anchor store supermarket with roof top carpark from Eaton road

Improved bus service

There are currently no buses in the evening from Stapleford Town to Beeston Town , leaving Stapleford isolated and not able to take advantage of the facilities Beeston has to offer or to encourage Beeston residents to visit the restaurants clubs and bars in stapleford.
