Chesterfield Canal

As someone who worked in Staveley during the closure of the works and the coal mines, it was wonderful to see how the environment improved with the restoration of the canal and the development of Staveley Basin. To restore the canal onward through Staveley to Renishaw would bring a big improvement to the area. The […]

Chesterfield Canal

To bridge the two miles or so ‘gap’ in the canal would be fantastic, opening up a distance towpath walk from Chesterfield all the way to just outside Gainsborough would be brilliant and excellent for people’s health across the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

Important restoration

It is important that the canal is restored between Hartington and Renishaw. When I was a young boy I spent a lot of time on the canal towpath in the Killamarsh and Renishaw areas and they were great times.Currently, I walk the path between Chesterfield and Staveley with my wife; we cover the Kiveton Park to […]

Revitalise Market Place

Good news during these tough times. Personally my thoughts are turn the shops in Market place round to open it to view from Morrisons. Everybody wins lovely plaza to sit in , revitalise shopping and inject energy into town centre.

Tram link to Sheffield

Extend the tram link from Barrowhill to Halfway tramstop, using mostly the old railway link. Barrowhill roundhouse has old tracks that could connect staveley to Halfway tramstop or crystal peaks which then goes onwards sheffield city centre. This will open up job opportunities, but also will help bring people into the new HS2 depot that […]

Football pitches

Better sports facilities that are open to community throughout the evenings and weekends. Giving children in particular, somewhere to go and something to do. Football is very popular with young people, a few of whom are accessing areas they shouldn’t be just to have a kick about.

Support the canal restoration project..

The Chesterfield canal is one of the country’s most picturesque canals.
