Safe overnight stops for Motorhomes

We travel all over this country watching and writing about pantomimes usually over Christmas. It is a real challenge to park and find places to stay overnight, I contact councils in the towns or cities we are visiting and they have been most helpful. We have now joined CAMpRA (Campaign for Real Aires UK) Please […]

Repair St Matthew’s Church

Walsall has hardly any historic buildings left. The obvious exception is St Matthew’s Church. It deserves to be preserved. It’s the biggest and most obvious landmark in town. It’s the oldest building by far with an 11 century crypt. All Walsall people love the building and it can be seen from miles away. But the […]

Clean up

Over the years what was once decent to shop and live has become dirty littered rundown areas. Especially Moxley area. Shopping trollies on pavements with rubbish on the sides of the roads dumped in factories and it just is an embarrassment. Worst thing they did was knock the shops down that was once known as […]

Overhead walkway to Arboretum

I feel that one of Walsall’s greatest assets is the lovely Arboretum. I’d love to see easier access between the town centre and Arboretum. I feel that if the town centre is going to be regenerated well, easy access to green spaces will be a real pull for those living, working or visiting the town […]

Lido at Walsall Arbouretum

The Lido and renovated park was immaculate a few years ago when installed. However, the play equipment and Lido are in States of disrepair and dirty. Why, when an attendant is monitoring the Lido can’t they carry out routine maintenance and proper cleaning and not just sit there and sunbathe…

Car parking

Allow 1/2 hour or 1 hour free parking on town centre car parks. This will encourage people to come to the town centre again. After this time charge as usual, the local authority has enough parking attendants to help to implement this by giving advice rather than giving out penalty notices.

Enforcement

The local authority have enforcement officers. Instead of payrolling in threes, they should cover three main areas of the town centre. One at the top of Park Street by Poundland and Wilko’s, one by the Sister Dora statue and one by Asda and Green Dragon public house.

Take beggars

Make it an offence for begging. Especially when those begging have a roof over their head and get fed. The money they beg for just pays for their selfish recreational drink and drugs. Beggars are VERY intimidating and putting people off coming to the town centre.

Small businesses

Lets help the small businesses in the local area to grow and bring variety back to the town. Help them by offering cheaper rent and business rates, the ridicuously high prices are making it near impossible for small businesses to grow and stay open. Also providing more parking spaces for both business owners and the […]

Safe play areas.

The local parks need fixing so that children have save place to play. Also the town centre needs urgent attention and investment. Nearly all shops have closed down. Lower the rent rates so that small businesses can trade.

Road Infrastructure

Conduct an investigation into the uneccesary use of traffic lights around the town, especially the ring road where they are causing significant congestion and contributing towards air pollution. A reviewal and removal of uneccesary old fashioned speed bumps in favour of smart speed bumps which only punish road users who speed.

Train Network

Appearance

Walsall needs tidying up and revamping. While yes I agree there should be better parking facilities and more shops in the high street. The town needs to look appealing, the markets need to look appealing. It needs to be patrolled better and get the drunks that gather in town away. People avoid walsall town. Let’s […]

Support services for young people

Invest in youth services. Walsall has slashed most of its budget for youth services and it now clearly shows. Youth crime is increasing. ASB across the borough appears to be increasing and young people just gather outside shops and fast food businesses for their entertainment. Invest in young people and organisations that can help address […]

A cleaner Walsall

It is known that over recent years Walsall has become ever more growing of litter. A positive way to tackle this issue could be to integrate a small fee for litter picking, aiming at teenagers. Sort it out

I suggest that somethings gets done about the homeless, there are many shops closing down around walsall and they could all be put in an abandoned one to atleast keep them warm. Litter pickers need to be set around the town centre, and certain areas need a massive cleanup like Karma & caldmore. There are […]

Safety and attraction.

Walsall town no longer feels like a safe space to shop or spend a day out. With the notable absence of police or security present in the centre, it attracts unsavoury behaviour. Furthermore, the town on a whole feels unclean and with the absence of big name shops or small unique business it is easily […]

Let’s get the youth off the streets and give them some fun challenges. Bring back the youth clubs. Willenhall town is dismal and really needs more incentives for traders to come back. Mental Health

I was recently told there’s a 20 week waiting list for talking therapies in Walsall. This wait time is causing a struggle for me personally, as waiting for desperately needed help only worsens mental health conditions. Talking therapies such as CBT and DBT should be the first port of call for mental health problems, rather […]

Sort out the A34

The junction by the Bell Pub is horrendous. Traffic towards walsall is shocking. Abandon the Sprint project as it is all about making access in to Birmingham easier. Nothing to benefit Walsall by. And the proposed time savings do not seem worth the money.

Clean up the town centre

The town centre needs cleaning up to attract investors its an absolute disgrace. I dread the day I have to go into town. There are very few shops worth venturing into the town for. Parking and shop rates/rental

Improve parking

Parking charges in Walsall are doing real harm, the machines only take cash and the car parks seen empty. Some days there are more parking wardens than cars. The town centre is in desperate need of a strategy to link the two half’s and make it feel like a safe place to visit.

Improve Town Centres

Encourage more tourism and trade in the town centres. Sport Opportunities for children

Having worked in Walsall schools I’ve noticed that many children rarely participate in sport outside of school especially compared to their counterparts in other regions. This seems to be heavily impacted by the price of involvement ,cultural pressures and timing of sports clubs around religious obligations. I would love more restaurants I’d love to see a waggamamas or ZiZi’s. More places to lock bikes up too. Just improve the town as a whole

More clubs and bars

The town needs more social areas, more than just chain restaurants. I think they need more bars and pubs to encourage 20-35 year olds to use the town for a night out, opposed to only 18 year olds.

Small businesses

Walsall high street consists of pound shops. It would be nice to have more independent little businesses occupy those empty buildings and share their craftsmanship. This would boost the economy. Another thing the council seriously needs to tackle is homelessness, it is a disgrace that we have so many people on the street in 2020.
