Safe overnight stops for Motorhomes

We travel all over this country watching and writing about pantomimes usually over Christmas. It is a real challenge to park and find places to stay overnight, I contact councils in the towns or cities we are visiting and they have been most helpful. We have now joined CAMpRA (Campaign for Real Aires UK) Please […]

Pigeon pest control

There are lots of pigeons living inside the bus shelters at the station, and in the shopping centre. They are defecating on everything as well as being a general nuisance. I know this has been addressed before, but they are still there as pests, and need removing.

Revamp Queens Square/Kings Square

A big interior and exterior makeover on the outdated Queens Square/Kings Square, making it look and feel more uniformed like New Square – the modern side. West Bromwich town centre is a hub of public transport with the bus station and trams nearby, it would attract a huge booming business as it is easily accessible. […]

Entertainment Venues

West Bromwich desperately needs somewhere for people to use for entertainment during the day and evening. Since they closed the public down we have zero options for places to go. Somewhere that can be used as a full time youth centre and somewhere that could be used for live music, comedy acts etc. We have […]

Regenerate the canals

Regenerate the canals in a Brindley Place Style. We’ve seen how Brindley Place has dramatically improved Birmingham’s image and turned the city into a place people want to visit. The same could happen for West Brom. We need bars, restaurants and cafes facing onto the canal towpath. Hotels and offices would also be good. Apartments […]

Damaged roads & potholes

The majority of the roads in West Bromwich are a disgrace!! Something really needs to be done about them and soon…..so many potholes and some of them are so deep they could damage vehicles…..many roads are no better than the ‘dirt tracks’ back in the day when there were horses and carts….I cannot remember a […]

Night Time Economy

Def more could be done to create a night time economy with restaurants, bars and more leisure facilities in the Town Centre for all especially with the Metro only 15 mins into Birmingham City Centre. You could create a right destination that attracts people for food / drinks to hop off the Metro. Also, maybe […]

Youth club

I really think we need a proper manned youth center to keep the kids off the streets. Something of their interest, fun and they have a passion for. Not expensive and it could have professional volunteers to promote wellbeing and safety.

Astle House (K&J offices)

I would like this building to be taken into public ownership and have it utilised as a market hall based on St Georges Market in Belfast. This would see people from all over the Midlands visit. There could be a weekly timetable such as: Friday – variety market, selling everything and anything. Saturday – food […]

Chewing Gum Boards

On every lampost in high traffic areas we need A3 sized chewing gum boards which have quirky pictures on to encourage the public to stick their used gum on there instead of on the floor. There are now a lot of towns across the country who have these in place.

Town Centre Park

Clear some space in the town centre and build a large free to use outdoor play area based on the Telford Park model. Although we have one in Dartmouth Park this additional one will be a pull for the town centre if done correctly.

Student Accommodation

We are on the doorstep of several excellent universities. Turn some disused High Street buildings into specific university student accommodation and try to attract a crowd which doesn’t even realise West Bromwich exists.

Parking

If asking for free parking 24/7 is too much why don’t we have a pay day weekend free for parking? Or every Saturday free in the town centre.

Queen Square community uses

The Queen Square centre is never going to be filled by retail. It would be a good use to knock a lot of the units together (the wing towards the car park) into a large room that can be used for community uses – a library, museum, or perhaps even a small inexpensive theatre.

Entertainment complex

To knock down the old multi story car park and build somewhere for socialising such as a ice rink, bowling or arcade. Somewhere for children to go that’s local and safe, which may enhance the shopping experience for new square shoppers to make a day of it. Also as there are lots of empty shops […]

Children facilities

More money should be invested for children’s facilities free places should be provided to help especially working parents, activity centres especially in school Holidays. Parents are penalised for working, making there lives harder to provide for there children. There is not enough in community centre in Sandwell to provide these activities they are run down […]

Market

The state of the High Street is a complete disgrace to the town, why can’t we have a purpose built ‘market hall’ taking the present market away from our High Street so it’s all under one roof, like our old market hall back in the day, the rubbish was contained in one area, at the […]

Leisure activities

So many shops are closed up on the high street in the main town centre (even more so in Wednesbury) would be nice to introduce more lesiure facilities like a bowling alley/ arcade area/ indoor study areas and cafes for younger people to become more emersed in the town centre.

School funding

The youth makes up a large part of this town and making sure education at local schools is well rounded, adequately funded and taught by experienced teachers to improve standards will help the overall community

High Street

The high street & the town needs to be brought together, all of the shopping centres are half empty merge them into 1 or 2, give free parking to encourage people to go into the town. Lower the rates for smaller business’s to give the varitey that is needed back in the town. Get named […]

Flats

We are lacking council houses in Sandwell. Building houses of flats instead of houses would help. if you build a few flats with 2-3 bedroom apartments you should change the situation in the area very quickly. I am on a list myself and I know that this is the most appealing case in Sandwell. We […]

Clean up

Clean up and re generate our high street. I had family come over from Australia, what an embarrassment our high street was. Closed down shops, rubbish littered everywhere, and folk sitting down on the benches obviously high and drinking from brown paper bags. Where has the vibrant, friendly, and pleasant high street of West Bromwich […]
