Eradicate Pedestrianisation

Re-open the City Centre to vehicular traffic and provide on street car parking. Abandon schemes to further pedestrianise. Use the principle of congestion charging (modest) for access to the City Centre and use the proceeds to subsidise public transport from the City’s traditional catchment area.

make parking in the city centre free, reduce business rates for city centre shops to attract new business (no more £1 stores) Encourage a large chain cinema to open in the city centre this will attract complimentary business such as restaurants as well as families, make bus tickets refundable against a cinema ticket

New playgrounds for kids, there is not enough for then to go and enjoy like the one in Walsall arboreum or in Telford Park. The existing one also needs some improvements.

Trainstation Traffic!

The traffic from the trainstation is horrific. Alot of people including myself live on Albion Street, the street is one way exit and my taxis to work always take 30 minutes plus, because of the congestion. Ive seen taxis drive along the otherside of the road and everything just to get ahead of the line […]

Restaurants and Bars

Wolverhampton was a brilliant place to visit for the night life 20 years ago, we need to reignite that and introduce places to eat and vibrant bars which will attract people back to the city. We are forced to visit neibouring Birmingham for a decent place to eat and drink. Why not look at a […]

Innovation

Innovation is the seed of all economic growth and opportunity. We need to bring back innovation and entrepreneurship to Wolverhampton. Innovation will create businesses, jobs, industries and everything else will roll on after. Help fund innovation at universities. Help incubate businesses. Encourage school leavers to stay and create something new here.

Bar and restaurants

I’d say I’m terms of restaurants have more main popular places to eat suck as TGF or belle itallia or even bills. For bars i can suggest more cocktail bars as the grain store is very small, that will no doubt encourage night life. For shopping Wolverhampton lacks main stream store such as Victoria Secret, […]

Old Eye Infirmary

The old eye Infirmary is a real eye sore, in today’s society there is a shortage of accommodation. It is of great sadness this beautiful building has dilapidated and is crumbling …surely a surge of funds would allow this building to be refurbished and given a new lease of life. Along with housing accommodation for […]

Continue improving Bentley Bridge

Bentley Bridge currently the hub of recreational activity in Wolverhampton. Continued development of this area is imperative as it could have a much bigger role and even compete to the likes of Merry Hill. I’d say a range of restaurants need to be added to this area(GBK, Frankie and Bennys, Five Guys etc) and a […]

Focus on restoration projects

So many warehouses close to town that are unused and boarded up. Why not find a cluster of them that are no longer being used and build an area full of nightclubs, food stations and bars. These old warehouses can be turned into student hotpots. Also.. Put money into housing estates that have houses boarded […]

Litter and fly tipping

A concerted effort to clean the area of Bilston up by installing a programme of street and grass verge cleaning on a monthly basis ,obviously this will require extra man power and resources some of which could be funded by harsher fines dished out to those who are causing the place to look like a […]

Fares of buses

I think it would be a good idea to provide more buses in the city and also to decrease bus fares, especially for younger, teenagers and adults which make it easier for people to access the city and encourage them into the area. Other cities like London offer cheaper transport for people up to 18 […]

Places For Children On Eststes

I would like to see more or in some cases some places for children young and teens to be able to go. I live in Dovecotes Pendeford there is nothing. Entertainment in the city centre

There are enough bars and resturant numbers are growing but other than shops nothing brings you there. People shop online because it’s easier and cheaper. Develop the cinema in place already, interactive low cost activities (craft, bridal shows and tasting sessions etc) and include a soft play focusing on younger children to ease the shopping experience […]

An attitude/culture shake up

There’s a stigma around housing and certain ‘undesirable’ characteristics being bundled in to the same areas meaning they can be forgotten about. Those that need help with mental health, drugs or have low income deserve to live in a nicer area as much as anyone else. Throwing those that may not have been born in […]

More SEN schools for ages 3 onwards

There is a lack of education services for children aged 3-5 with Special Educational Needs…. Around 50 children are fighting for 4 places in the only special school that starts from Reception class. Social Life

I believe a huge problem is the social aspect after 5/6pm most stores are closed. You’ll potentially get one or two bars that are still open but they are few and far between. I tend to go to Birmingham for shopping, for food, for drinks as places open way later, there is a large amount […]

Youth of the city

Social Club

It would be good if there was a government funded social club to cater for all ages. Also something to tackle the cannabis and dumping rubbish problem – strong message of how much harm cannabis can do and also strong message to refrain from dumping rubbish and value the places where we live.

More Atrisan Shops

There are many Attisans and crafters who would take the step to becoming businesses if they could afford to. Lower thevrents and taxes on both small industrial and retail outlets to help facilitate this. This would increase both employment and improved the retail environment in the town

Invest

Even the maximum amount of £25m will not fix the issues with the city centre, or make a considerable change to the city in general. My suggestion would be to invest the money on sensible projects to engage the residents which would generate income, for example outdoor cinemas are popular, there could be city run […]

Shopping/Bars & Restaurants

Wolverhampton used to be a thriving town, people from all over the UK would visit by the coach load. We had a lot to offer then, fantastic night life, great shopping, friendly environment to visit. Sadly this is not the case now. We have to make the city more attractive and safe. We’ve done it […]

Address Homelessness

Invest in Cycle Infrastructure

Improvement of cycle networks, to encourage people out of their cars and onto their bikes, by making the journeys safer and less daunting for new cyclists. The canals are not cycle friendly and Stafford Rd is very challenging for new cyclists. By implementing a cycle lane people could be encouraged to cycle more.

Improve clean transport network

Improve and link up current cycle routes to allow safe eco friendly travel between city and suburbs (ie Wednesfield > Bilston). Increase the city centre and outlying locations of Electric Vehicle charge points in order to plug gaps in network (there are currently no public ones in Bilston or Wednesfield) across the region.

Homelessness.

It is no surprise that Wolverhampton (like many other town and cities) has an increasing population of rough sleepers. Restaurants and Bars

Wolverhampton city centre struggles to compete with Birmingham and Telford as a shopping and socialising hub in part due to it lacking in enough places to eat and drink. Shopping and socialising is a whole day experience, having enough places to drink, eat and socialise will bring the shoppers back into Wolverhampton. More focus needs […]

Encourage shoppers back

More car parking with larger spaces for modern cars, these don’t necessarily have to be free spaces. Pedestrianised areas need to be covered because of our climate. Do not demonise cars, they provide visitors and an ability to purchase in large quantities. Abolish bus lanes that are mainly empty, and treat drivers as second class, […]
