Trains to Nelson and surrounding areas are few and far between. Links to cultural centres such as Clitheroe are poor and involve travelling south to Blackburn for a change. Or there is a bus which is slow and has many stops.
Many traditional pubs around Nelson have now closed, losing a lot of heritage and community. The centre lacks any upmarket shops and/or restaurants which may also attract tourism. Nelson is no longer a town for miners and textile industry, it needs investment in transport, culture, community and preservation of traditional buildings and pubs
