Research has shown that connectedness to nature can help mental and physical health. Greening the town and providing connectivity between parks and nature reserves can help make Bournemouth a nature resort. A strategy geared towards wildling areas of the town, environmental education and community engagement followed by a meaningful budget to enact the resulting actions – could have a great impact for residents, as well as provide good PR for the town’s tourism. Other green infrastructure improvements are important too, but don’t let’s take our eye of the ball and allow our wildlife to go extinct, whilst we only focus on reducing plastics and emissions.
