An increase in the number of parked vans/caravans on the edges of housing estates and elsewhere means that we must find places where they can go legitimately. Not everyone can afford to rent. As the roadside living has been around for so many decades now, surely we can get something organised? They need to have safe places to go with proper sanitation and water. I do not want the town to be highlighted as one of the worst places in England for homeless/travellers/caravan-dwellers – and councils that take no responsibility for them. This autumn/winter will see the situation get worse as more people lose their jobs and homes. We cannot shut these people out as if they don’t exist, unless we lack all humanity. Come on councils – take a lead and make something happen here.
