Well-Planned Bus and Cycle Network

Bus routes need to be reviewed and redrawn so that not only is it quick to get in and out of the town centre, but so you can reach other parts of Darlington without having to change buses in the town centre. As well as ensuring that all parts of the town are well-served and interconnected with each other through an updated bus network, fares need to be affordable and accessible. Bus Lanes should be deployed where possible to lower journey times. In addition, a connected network of cycle lanes across the entire town should be instigated. These measures would reduce dependence on cars and congestion, make public transport more accessible and Darlington better interconnected whilst curbing transport emissions in the town. Proceedings should also be made to introduce electric-powered buses to further reduce carbon emissions.
