As a city, Peterborough has very for services benefitting young people, leaving them to their own means during school holidays and evenings at an age that independence is more common.
There is also a huge substance abuse and homelessness issue in the city, which young people need to be protected from in order to tackle the issue in future generations.
Services that not only provide young adults with somewhere to go and something to do but also invest in them as individuals would make a huge impact to their future and prevent crime in an ongoing basis. The city needs youth centres, a place where all young adults can feel safe and relaxed and where they can build on skillsets that would be embodied in a range of extra curricular activities, such as music, mechanics, art etc.
It isn’t even a matter of stopping at the £25m grant but investing other parts of the city where possible, allowing local business’ to give back to the community.
